In an interview with Joel Amos of Movie Fanatic, the veteran actor – and the man who originated Captain James T. Kirk – is asked about JJ Abrams helming both the updated Star Trek franchise and Star Wars franchise.
How does Shatner feel about the director?
“He’s probably the most talented director of that ilk we have,” Shatner says, adding, however, that Abrams has “gone too far” and is actually “being a pig” these days.

Sam Donaldson DUI Arrest: ABC News Veteran Flunks Field Sobriety Test!

Veteran ABC News reporter and political correspondent Sam Donaldson got arrested for DUI this month in Delaware. Bet you didn’t see that coming!
According to law enforcement, the 78-year-old was pulled over after he had driven onto the shoulder of the road. Officers detected the presence of alcohol.
Police performed a field sobriety test on Sam. He tanked.
Donaldson was arrested for DUI and was taken to a nearby station where he was booked and “released to an adult pending his appearance in court.”

11-Year-Old Brings Gun to School to Protect Class, Citing Fear of Newtown-Style Attack

An 11-year-old Utah boy brought a gun to school to protect himself from a Newtown-style attack, then showed the pistol to classmates during recess, according to reports.
He was detained on assault and weapons charges, a school spokesman said.
11-Year-Old Brings Gun To SchoolThe boy, a sixth-grader, took the unloaded .22-caliber handgun to his school south of Salt Lake City in his backpack on Monday, the spokesman added.
Some ammunition was also found in the 11-year-old’s backpack, but it did not appear to go with the gun, according the spokesman, Ben Horsley.

Kevin Clash, the voice of Sesame Street’s Elmo, agreed to pay his accuser $125,000, under one condition – that Sheldon Stephens retract the allegation that he was underage.
Stephens alleged he was only 16 when Clash began an affair with him. Clash admits an affair, but insists it started when Stephens, now 23, was an adult.
Stephens recanted his allegation days later, but only after a secret settlement was struck between the two parties. Under the terms of the settlement:

Bob Welch, Former Fleetwood Mac Member, Commits Suicide

Bob Welch, a musician best known for playing with iconic rock band Fleetwood Mac between 1971 and 1974, has committed suicide. He was 66.
The artist’s body was found inside his Nashville home today, police confirm, discovered there by his wife around noon local time. He reportedly shot himself in the chest and left a suicide note.
Following three years at the guitar and microphone with Fleetwood Mac, Welch formed British rock group Paris in 1976. He most well-known tracks include “Sentimental Lady” and “Ebony Eyes.”

Richard Dawson Dead at 79

Richard Dawson, the legendary host of Family Feud and a veteran film and TV actor, has died from complications due to esophageal cancer, according to his son.
He was 79. Gary Dawson wrote on Facebook late Saturday:
“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my father passed away this evening from complications due to esophageal cancer.”
“He was surrounded by his family. He was an amazing talent, a loving husband, a great dad, and a doting grandfather. He will be missed but always remembered.”
