After a horrible start to 2011, Hollywood’s power brokers had a lot riding on this summer’s movie season. By the looks of the failing economy, you wouldn’t think the numbers would’ve picked up. But riding on the backs of big budget sequels, like the billion dollar hits Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean, the movie industry has something to smile about. ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ smashes $1-billion mark

In a record that puts close to a tie with the ‘Harry Potter’ series, Paramount Pictures have announced ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ has grossed a stunning $1-billion in box office sales.

Becoming only the third film this year to achieve such a feat, ‘Transformers’ earned $338-million in the US up to last Monday, and $663-million in the rest of the world.

It’s also the first movie in the studio’s 99-year history to score the mystical $1-billion gross.

Transformers 3 actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley went on the Chelsea Lately show Thursday to discuss her new movie role. It wasn’t long before the affable Chelsea Handler started making diggs at Huntington-Whiteley’s co-star Shia LaBeouf.

The actor has been catching flack for openly discussing affairs he’s had with co-stars, most recently Megan Fox, who is married to Brian Austin Greene. “Transformers 3″ scores $42 million, best opening day this year

It was expected to be the blockbuster hit of the summer, and it’s looking like it’ll live up to those expectations but fall short of its prequel.

Transformers: Dark of  the  Moon (otherwise affectionately known as Transformers 3) wrapped up a $37.3 million pay day Wednesday, including an additional $5.5 million on early sneak peaks on Tuesday. This gives the Michael Bay flick the top opening day trophy for 2011 — just outpacing previous holder Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which debuted to $34.8 million, including $4.7 million in midnights, on a Friday.

So here’s one you won’t hear everyday, a children’s book titled Transformers 3: The Dark of the Moon popped up on Amazon this week and it apparently gives away the movie’s plot.

Another Accident On Transformers 3 Set, Cop Car Hit, Officer Injured

First it was an extra being injured on the set of Transformers 3 and today it’s a police officer who drove through the movie’s perimeter before colliding with one of the films stars….Bumblebee!

According to TMZ:

A nearby shop owner says  was a lot of police activity in the area right at the time of the accident due to a bomb scare. It is unclear if the cop car involved in the accident was part of that investigation.

D.C. police soon after released a statement in which they confirmed that the police officer was part of their Explosives Ordinances Division and that they were transported

‘Transformers 3′ Extra In Critical Condition After On-Set Accident

An “extra” on the set of Transformers 3 was injured and then promptly hospitalized in Indiana when a stunt went wrong during shooting earlier this week. The extra, Garbriela Cedillo is listed in critical condition.

According to PopCrunch:

Authorities in the Chicago suburb of Hammond, Indiana say the crew was filming scenes in Lake County late Wednesday using several vehicles and drivers when something went awry and an object went sailing through the windshield of one of the vehicles, striking the driver, Gabriela Cedillo, 24.
