Not only has The Today Show‘s replacement of this co-anchor with Savannah Guthrie NOT resulted in a ratings spike, but the program lost to rival Good Morning America by over 300,000 total viewers during Guthrie’s debut week behind the desk.
Moreover, according to New York Post sources, Guthrie has developed severe headaches as a result of her promotion.

Matt Lauer will soon head to London in order to cover the Summer Olympics for The Today Show and, according to a new report, wife Annette Roque will attend the event along with her three kids.
A fun family vacation? Not exactly.
Sources tell Radar Online that Roque continues to be wary of her husband, specifically his relationship with reporter Natalie Morales, and that she’s only headed overseas to keep “tabs” on Lauer.

Ann Curry Firing to Cost The Today Show Millions

If/when Ann Curry gets fired from Today, it will cost NBC a pretty penny.
Actually, many pretty pennies. More pretty pennies than a celebrity gossip website knows how to count.
Network insiders tell TMZ that Curry is definitely a goner next week, and that the ousting will cost NBC close to $30 million because the co-host signed a long-term contract in 2011 that guarantees her $10 million/year.
That number ought to soften the blow, huh?
Curry is also rumored to become a foreign correspondent for NBC News, a capacity that will involve… who cares?!? $30 million?!? YEESH!

Matt Lauer has softened his position about leaving the Today show in December at the end of his contract … if NBC will pay up big time, that is.
The sexy beast currently earns $17 million a year. Negotiations are currently ongoing that could net Lauer could as much as $30 MILLION a year.
That will make a lot of people soften positions about retiring, we would have to imagine. But was Lauer’s change of heart motivated by something else?
Some say Lauer changed his mind about leaving when network execs showed interest in Ryan Seacrest as a replacement … and got jealous.

It wasn’t quite Lady Gaga on Good Morning America, but Rihanna kick started Today‘s Toyota Concert Series this morning at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
Walking through the crowd offers great access to the fans, but also risks. This one guy got little too excited when Rihanna walked by and grabbed the singer!
Luckily, Rihanna’s back-up dancers helped pull her away and the rest of the singer’s concert seemed to go off without a hitch – and with plenty of hits.

Confirmed: Meredith Vieira Leaving Today, Ann Curry to Replace Her as Host

Meredith Vieira confirmed that she will leave NBC’s Today show next month.
She made the announcement on this morning’s broadcast, citing a desire to spend more time with her family. Ann Curry will replace her as host.
The turnover at TV’s top-rated morning show was anticipated. Vieira replaced Katie Couric in 2006, and has talked about wanting more free time.

We’re kidding. Rob’s character in Water for Elephants is named Jacob, though. Pretty funny, although he says he never realized the coincidence.

In a rare TV interview, Tiger Woods’ famed mistress Rachel Uchitel spoke on the Today Show about her addiction to love and how that led her astray.
Appearing alongside her Celebrity Rehab mentor, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Rache promoted her stint on the VH1 program and explained why she went on it.
“I knew that I needed help,” Uchitel, who claims she went on the program to deal with her love addiction. “And I wanted to get it from Dr. Drew.”

A little rain couldn’t slow down Lady Gaga’s reign.
The singer played a full half-hour set on the Today show, belting out her newest song “You and I” (reportedly written for boyfriend Luc Carl) and some of her other hits.
Originally wearing oversized sparkle-encrusted bug goggles, she finished the routine without them. She did her traditional heel-banging on the piano, not to worry.
