We’re down to the special six on The X Factor, as two more contestants were sent home tonight.
Up first, just eight minutes and 12 irritating Khloe Kardashian remarks into the broadcast, PAIGE THOMAS heard her name called as the first singer eliminated.

Rain wreaked havoc with the FOX schedule last night, as a delay in the Major League Baseball playoff game between the Giants and the Cardinals resulted in last-second schedule shuffling.
As a result, only half of the originally-planned two-hour X Factor episode aired – but that was enough time for the series to unveil 10 of its 16 finalists.
Did you favorite make the cut? Let’s take a look at who advanced from each group…

She’s no Jeffrey Gutt, but Julia Bullock, an 18-year-old from Charlotte, N.C., made a good enough impression on the judges to make it through to Boot Camp too.
Her version of Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” was one of the highlights last night on The X Factor, which clearly used up most of its talent Wednesday.
Julia ditched her bandmates, which included her ex-boyfriend, in trying out for the Fox show. Think she’s got a chance to make it far? You be the judge below:

Three hours of The X Factor Season 2 are in the books.
What did everyone think? Are you shocked that Britney Spears seems coherent so far? Impressed by Demi Lovato’s heart and attitude? Sick of Simon Cowell’s t-shirts?
Looking forward to more talent taking the stage? Convinced we’ve already seen the winner cross our television screens?
Or have you simply been watching The Voice?
After one week of this Fox competition, it’s time to stop and evaluate the two most important aspects of it: the judges and the contestants. Weigh in below and let’s find out whoMore >
There’s a very good chance that Khloe Kardashian hosts The X Factor Season 2.
While potential viewers allow that bad news to sink in, Fox has unveiled an extended promo for this singing competition that focuses on nothing but bad auditions.
Watch below to see a man claiming to honor Britney Spears by destroying her single “Circus,” along with an even less talented contestant responding to criticism from Demi Lovato by sniping “You use auto-tune and I don’t.”
Damn, yo! Fortunately, Britney is there to side with her fellow judge, replying to his diss with: “I want to know who let you onMore >
Season two of The X Factor is just over a month away, and Simon Cowell’s revamped competition is missing one key element: a host.
The show has struggled to find a replacement for Steve Jones, who was dumped following a lackluster opening season. With producers reportedly seeking a male and a female to take the Brit’s place, Khloe Kardashian has moved toward the top of the list for the latter position.
And now multiple sources confirm that Glee star Kevin McHale is also under consideration for the gig.

Be warned, future X Factor hopefuls: Demi Lovato means business. Especially when it comes to drugs.
The new judge – whose history with substance abuse is well-known – reportedly stopped a couple of contestants in their rapping tracks this week because their lyrics included references to “bath salts,” a synthetic powder that has been compared to cocaine and crystal meth – and was even rumored to be responsible for zombie attacks in Miami earlier this year.
Said an E! News source of the Greensboro audition:

Gene Simmons’ daughter did not spend Father’s Day with her dad. Instead, Sophie Simmons flew out to San Francisco to try out for The X Factor.
While Gene and Sophie do have a close relationship, Sophie decided to spend Sunday with Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.
“This isn’t about my dad. This is all about my audition,” Sophie reportedly told the judges, asking to be judged on merit and not by her surname.
Sophie may or may not have made it to the next round, but with a rock star for a dad, she’s likely not afraid of performing on the stage at least.

The first promo for The X Factor season 2 asks viewers if they’re ready for a pair of very famous new judges.
But what about those judges themselves? Demi Lovato and Britney Spears sure sounded ready today when they touched down in Austin, Texas for their very first round of auditions.
“So excited to be going to Austin this week for @TheXFactorUSA auditions!” Spears, who was accompanied to Austin with Jason Trawick, Tweeted. “Will I see any of y’all there on Thurs or Fri?”
Added Lovato via the same social network:
“It’s my first day… woo hoo!! Who’s coming??!!! #XFACTORUSA.”
The X Factor carousel has stopped on Gwen Stefani.
One day after rumors surfaced that either Miley Cyrus or Demi Lovato would join Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Britney Spears on the season two panel, an insider tells The New York Post that this female singer is under consideration for a different role.
The singer would take over for Steve Jones, who was let go after a disappointing opening season.
A Fox insider says Stefani has been contacted, is interested and would seek compensation between $5-7 million.

With Britney Spears already on board, might Simon Cowell be giving up all notions of The X Factor as a singing competition?
It’s hard not to think the producer is simply aiming to rake in the ratings, considering the latest name reportedly on the table to join season two as a judge: Miley Cyrus.
Simply put, “there have been talks with Miley,” an X Factor insider tells Celebuzz, a rumor backed up by E! News.
Both outlets also report that Fergie, Avril Lavigne and Demi Lovato are in the running to join Cowell, Spears and L.A. Reid on the panel. A decision will need to come within a month orMore >
It’s actually happening. Britney Spears is going to become a judge on The X Factor, with a deal pending to pay her $15 million for the role, E! News reports.
“Both camps were going back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee,” says one insider with knowledge of the contract.
“That was the big sticking point and now, thankfully, it’s been sorted.”
“All they need to do now is work out the smaller points. The fact the money is now set, means that there is nothing stopping this from becoming a reality.”

For all the chatter over who may next judge The X Factor – Britney Spears, for $20 million? – it’s easy to forget: the show is also without a host for season two.
And that remains the case, E! News reports, even after the show asked Darren Criss about the gig.
“They were after him,” an X Factor insider said. “But there’s no way he could have done it with everything he has going on.”
Criss stars as Blaine on Glee and also appeared on Broadway earlier this year, earning strong reviews for his role in How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Yes, Paula Abdul really is out of The X Factor.
While no one doubted the veracity of this morning’s report – which detailed the ousting of Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones – the singer herself had not spoken out about the decision until now.
“I’ve learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations,” Paula said in a statement. “Simon and I, along with Fox and [producers] Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation.

Melanie Amaro accomplished the very difficult on the first season of The X Factor: the front-runner since day one, this talented singer maintained that status for months and went on to win the title last night.
And she still can’t believe it.
“I felt as though I was hearing things, to be honest,” Amaro told reporters today of when Steve Jones announced her at the winner. “I had to check my ear real quick. It shocked me a lot. It really did.”
Melanie, of course, is now $5 million richer, a wild sum for anyone, let alone a young woman who didn’t grow up with much.
