Lauren Alaina: Born to Fly on American Idol

Lauren Alaina sometimes holds something back on stage. Not last night.

It’s true that, in covering Sara Evans’ hit “Born to Fly,” she stayed close to the original version. But it’s a great country song to stick close to the original of.

Will she spread her wings and truly fly to new heights this season on Idol? If this performance is any indication, she’s still scratching the surface of her talent:

Britney Spears: Dancing "Till The World Ends" in Second Version of Music Video!

Britney Spears has just released an alternate version of her music video for “Till The World Ends,” and this one is light on apocalypse, heavy on Britney.

Focused almost exclusively on the pop star’s dance moves and less on the original’s crazy special effects, it’s a more traditional music video in a sense.

No end-of-the-world shots, doomsday references or general craziness here. Just dancing, partying and a sprinkler system. In other words … NICE!

Lady Gaga Goes Country: "Born This Way" With a Twist and a Twang!

Lady Gaga. Born This Way. Country edition?

Believe it. The pop star’s hit single may or may not be stolen from various other acts, but this version is all her – and unlike you’ve ever heard her before.

The Mother Monster dropped the tune at midnight this morning. More laid-back and mellow than the original, it also features some new lyrics at the end.

Listen to Gaga go country, with her usual disco-thumping beats replaced by laconic guitars, beautiful harmonica and seriously soulful crooning, below …

Glee Cast Covers Ke$ha: Watch Now!

Glee addressed the issues of underage drinking and sexual confusion on last night’s episode.

It also answered the classic question: how would a drunken cast of singing group members handle a cover of a Ke$ha song in a school-wide assembly celebrating alcohol awareness?

The answer: very well, at least for a couple minutes. Led by Heather Morris as Brittany, New Directions danced and sung along the “Tik Tok” this week. Check out the performance here, compare it to the original and be wary of the concluding few seconds. They’re gross.

Mean Girls is one of the best comedies of its generation.

The 2004 film catapulted Rachel McAdams to stardom, proved that Lindsay Lohan can actually be funny and jump-started the writing career of Tina Fey, who used the movie as a springboard to 30 Rock.

So it’s with a heavy heart that we post the following trailer for Mean Girls 2, a direct-to-video sequel that doesn’t feature any of the original’s leading ladies. Take a look now at the latest example of Hollywood being totally out of fresh ideas:

Glee Cast Covering Rocky Horror Picture Show For Season 2

As if the cast of Glee weren’t already the outcasts of McKinley High, now in season two they will be tackling an even more weird and alienating subject matter, the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy announced plans for the Rocky Horror spot at Comic-Con (SDCC) over this past weekend.

The second season of Glee will debut on Sept. 21 @ 8 PM ET on Fox.

What do you think, can the cast pull off their own version of the popular cult classic? Typically they take songs and make them there own, but in my opinion what makes RHPS so great is that each song is sung just the way the

TV Tidbits: Law and Order Canceled!!

A few of the big TV networks might have ordered several new series for the fall, but the big news is the cancellation of one of the biggest shows: Law & Order, the original series. Well, at least NBC has cancelled it and Dick Wolf is accusing them of reneging on their deal. The alternative is to take the 21st season over to TNT, but TNT was in fact supposed to be part of the original NBC deal.

Seems like there’s a fair bit of politics going on. But as far as I’m concerned, Law & Order has become long in the tooth and should be put out of it’s misery. They’ve changed the cast too many times
