As noted in our Les Miserables review, we weren’t huge fans of this big screen adaption.
But Anne Hathaway deserves all the Oscar buzz circulating around Hollywood, thanks to her rendition of the classic track “I Dreamed a Dream.”
Was it the best version we’ve heard of this single over the last few years, though?
Susan Boyle rose to fame by covering the song on Britain’s Got Talent, while Lea Michele and Idina Menzel teamed up for a rendition on Glee.

We didn’t see this cover coming.
On her upcoming new album, Susan Boyle slows down the Depeche Mode classic “Enjoy the Silence.” The former Britain’s Got Talent finalist shows off her vocal range once again on the track, taking it to a place the original version simply didn’t go.
Which do you prefer? Listen to SuBo now and decide for yourself:

Susan Boyle has reached many milestones in her professional life. This artist has ruled the music charts almost since the day we met her on Britain’s Got Talent.
But today marks a major accomplishment in the personal life of the Scottish singer: she turns 50!
Boyle hasn’t been in the news much these days, but we might see more of her in the immediate future. There have been rumors that Susan will perform at the Royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton, and/or guest star on Glee.
Either way, we’ll be keeping our eye on this talentedMore >
Here’s a movie I’ll be avoiding like the plague. Susan Boyle will be played by Glenn Close in a new biopic which follows Boyle’s rise to fame.
I personally can’t think of a worse idea for a movie, will Glenn Close be sitting on a couch with all her cats for 40+ years, then audition for Britain’s Got Talent? Then…well…the end.
Okay not fair on my part, well not fully, but honestly Boyle just started her career and a biopic seems quite premature. According to UK reports Close will play Boyle as she auditions for the talent show and then through the last several years in which she has releasedMore >
Michael Jackson’s posthumous new album, Michael, sold 228,000 copies in the U.S. and hundreds of thousands more abroad in its first week.
The domestic haul lagged only Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (259,000) and Susan Boyle’s The Gift (254,000). Not Invincible, but very formidable.
While perhaps a bit of a letdown by MJ standards, the “new” material was unreleased for a reason, and his sales trounced Crystal Bowersox.
Not surprisingly, the late King of Pop’s label notes that he “shipped platinum” in 14 different territories, meaning a million or more units were sent to those areas.
The Hoff is taking off.
David Hasselhoff, who was let go from America’s Got Talent last season in favor of Howie Mandell, has signed on to replace Simon Cowell on the British version of this reality competition.
“David is super excited about the move [to England],” an insider tells Pop Eater. “He’s in London over the holidays going theater and looking at apartments for when he moves full-time early next year.”
Things are looking good for Hasselhoff these days, as his family’s reality show premiered on A&E last week.
“It’s a brand-new start for David and he couldn’t be more exited,” says aMore >
Everyone is talking about the engagement between Prince William and Kate Middleton these days. Seriously, everyone.
Snoop Dogg has released what his website describes as “an anthem” for William’s upcoming stag party, along with “all bachelor parties around the world to follow.”
The single is titled “Wet” and Snoop says it’s “the perfect anthem for Prince William or any playa to get the club smokin’.” What else needs to be said? Take a listen below:
Elton John has said he’ll “probably” perform at the royal reception, meaning we should all be on the lookout forMore >
Perhaps Susan Boyle should not sing at the Royal Wedding.
The Scottish sensation, who continues to rule the Billboard album charts, had an unfortunate incident this morning on The View. Performing the classic song “O Holy Night,” Boyle missed a note and lost her way. She motioned for the music to stop, but ended up standing awkwardly silent for a few moments before the hosts rushed in to save her.
See for yourself and then send in words of encouragement: hang in there, Susan! This was just a one-time hiccup:
Taylor Swift is reportedly holding on to a handsome man these days. And it’s a good thing, too, because she’s lost her grip on the top Billboard 200 ranking.
After spending two weeks at number-one with “Speak Now,” Swift finds herself in second place today, due to the release of “The Gift,” a holiday album from Susan Boyle. There really is no stopping this Scottish sensation.
“Singing is the best job in the world, it really is fantastic. I’m just an ordinary woman who showed a bit of determination and this is what has happened. To have a second No.1 album is wonderful and something IMore >
Susan Boyle has not lived a perfect life.
She recently opened up to Oprah about the bullying she faced as a child, and we all know how she suffered a couple breakdowns during her run to the finals on Britain’s Got Talent.
But the Scottish singer has bounced back rather nicely, having released a record-breaking album and earning acclaim from critics and fans around the globe. Below, we’ve posted Susan’s latest music video, for the single “Perfect Day.” Watch now and react: What do you think of it?Perfect Day Video
Jackie Evancho wowed audiences when the 10-year-old took the stage on America’s Got Talent and sang with the talent of a girl far beyond her years.
Evancho has signed with SYCO/Columbia Records, the same label that signed Susan Boyle after she appeared on Britain’s Got Talent.
According to Rob Stringer, Chairman of the Columbia/Epic Label Group:
“Jackie has a rare and precious talent and we are excited to help develop that talent in her future recording career!”
According to Evancho’s parents:
“It’s already been an amazing journey for Jackie and we are so proud of and happy for her.
Susan Boyle will not perform on Tuesday’s Dancing With The Stars as scheduled due to a throat infection that has left her unable to sing.
According to PopCrunch, her condition is so bad that doctor’s in Scotland have told her not to leave her home.
Susan Boyle was set to appear and promote her first ever holiday album titled The Gift on which she sings and would have performed Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”
Last month Boyle also had to cancel an appearance on America’s Got Talent where she was set to perform Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” with a 100-piece children’s choir, however the rights toMore >
Susan Boyle’s security team is beefing up their watches after it was reported early this month that Boyle has yet another crazy stalker fan.
According to reports, the unidentified man got a hold of Boyle’s phone number and other personal contact information and has been leaving her scary messages, while claiming to be her brother Gerry.
Susan’s actual brother Gerry told News of the World:
“He is calling Susan and pretending to be me or other relatives. It’s been going on for a while. Susan knows who I am when I get on the phone. She never mistakes me for him. There are some weird people
(HMG Celebrity News) – Susan Boyle was forced to pull out of an appearance on America’s Got Talent after musician Lou Reed banned her from singing one of his greatest hits. Boyle arrived to L.A. yesterday to perform the 1972 hit song “Perfect Day” on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ the show that made her famous as runner-up of the 2009 British version of the show
However producers needed permission from Lou Reed, the former lead singer for The Velvet Underground and famous for “Walk on the Wild Side”for Boyle to perform the song. Why this was done seemingly at the last minute hasn’t beenMore >
If Justin Bieber has his way, he’ll be taking over for John Travolta in a new remake of the popular musical Grease.
Not only does Bieber want the role, he wants Miley Cyrus to take over the Olivia Newton-John role of Sandy in the movie.
Bieber says of the Disney star:
“I would go for Miley Cyrus without hesitation. She can sing, dance and act,” the “Someone to Love” idol, 16, tells London’s The Sun.
Bieber has also thrown out Cheryl Cole’s name for a role in the movie, but apparently more for aesthetics:
“I would love to include Cheryl Cole as well. She would look great in the Rydell High
