Stefano Langone Says He Purposely Held Back on American Idol, Saved "Swag" For Solo Career

Stefano Langone was voted off American Idol this week, but he says he’s proud of how far he got and looking forward to what’s next in his career.

In fact, he says he purposely held back on Idol because he wanted to save some of his patented special “swag” for fans to hear on his debut album.

“It’s hard to really show your chops on the show,” he said. “One thing I wanted to keep to myself was my original music and my piano playing. It’s something I want to bring out and really show the world, and I think it will be very, very special.”

Saying that he purposely chose to not showcase his

Stefano Langone: Soon to Be Long Gone?

Did Ne-Yo’s “Closer” help Stefano Langone get closer to the American Idol title?

Eh. Maybe it’s just us, but we weren’t feeling the sexy vibe he was trying to send out, and his vocals felt noticeably off-key at least a couple of times.

Will tonight be Stefano Langone‘s time to get the boot from American Idol? Or did he turn his hopes around? Watch him sing and see what you think:

American Idol Power Rankings: Scotty in Front, Stefano in Back

With the top seven on tap to perform tonight, THG’s American Idol Power Rankings break down who we like this week and who we think is likely to go home.

Of course, who we think leads the pack means very little in the end (you can ask Pia Toscano), but it’s still fun to try our hand at predicting the reality competition.

Take a look at how we size up the field and see if you agree:

1. Scotty McCreery. Kind of a sleeper favorite. He should go country this week and go far this spring, though. Take it to the bank (NOTE: don’t, actually).

2. James Durbin. We were willing to give metal a

American Idol Results: Who Was Voted Off?

After last week’s shocking elimination of Pia Toscano on American Idol, we learned to be prepared for everything. No one is safe going into the results show.

Would someone we expected to stick around all season be ousted again tonight? Or would America cast its ballots more predictably this time? We had no clue.

We did accurately predict that three among these four – Jacob Lusk, Paul McDonald, Stefano Langone and Haley Reinhart – would comprise the final three.

Paul, Stefano and Haley earned the fewest votes after Wednesday night.

Stefano Langone and Paul McDonald: Bottom Three Bound?

Last week, we predicted that Stefano Langone and Paul McDonald would go home on American Idol, only to be stunned when Pia Toscano was eliminated.

This shows what we know, but we doubt we were the only ones surprised. Nor do we expect we’re alone saying Stefano and Paul may be in danger again.

Haley Reinhart also looked shaky, so it’s anyone’s guess. But neither Stefano or Paul took that step last night that would put them in the “safe” category.

Right? Wrong? Watch their performances here and comment below:

American Idol Fans Petition For Pia Toscano Return, Demand Stefano Langone Leave Competition

Irate American Idol fans are bombarding the show and Fox after the elimination of Pia Toscano, demanding that the singer be allowed back on this week.

To make room for her, they also demand Stefano Langone remove himself from Idol, since, not to put too fine a point on it, he sucks and has no shot.

They’ve reached out to him in an effort to plead this case.

Their VOTES, which actually determine the results of this reality TV competition show, could have ensured this last week, of course. Details.

Pia Toscano: The Most Shocking American Idol Elimination Ever?

The stunning elimination of Pia Toscano on American Idol Thursday night will no doubt go down as one of the show’s most controversial in 10 seasons.

Despite her lackluster stage presence, her talent outclassed much of the field, with many predicting she would make it all the way to the May 25 finale.

No one understood why Pia was in the bottom three to begin with. As the results were revealed, the judges and her fellow hopefuls were dumbstruck.

When the show ended, no one in the studio audience moved.

In past eliminations, it’s been an easy transition off the stage, but this was no

Double Elimination: Who Did American Idol Send Home?

Farewell, Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia.

The run of both these finalists came to an end last night, as American Idol viewers voted out a pair of contestants following the surprising save of Casey Abrams a week ago. There was no such shock this time around.

Joined in the bottom three by Paul McDonald, both Naima and Thia struggled to find their groove on season 10. The former may have been too eclectic for viewers, while the latter has a beautiful voice, but didn’t do a lot to stand out.

Among other results show highlights:

  • Jamie Foxx and will.i.am performed.
  • Lauren Alaina and Scotty

Stefano Langone Earns His Spot on American Idol

One of three wild card entries, as chosen by the judges last week, Stefano Langone made a strong statement on American Idol last night: I belong!

The singer challenged himself by taking on Stevie Wonder’s “Lately,” mixing it into a ballad and a jazz-based arrangement. The performance left Jennifer Lopez laughing and referring to the version as a “dance remix.”

Steven Tyler compared Stefano to a “soaring volcano,” while Randy Jackson likely paid him the biggest compliment of all: “It’s so hard to sign Stevie Wonder. He’d be proud of this, because you slayed it.”

American Idol Live Blog: Top 12 Men Perform

Stefano Langone vs. Brett Loewenstern: American Idol Semifinalist Showdown!

They look very different and they hail from opposite ends of the country.

But Washington native Stefano Langone has something important in common with Florida resident Brett Loewenstern: they are two of the top 24 contestants on this season of American Idol.

We wish each of these singers the best of luck, and we’d also like to train them for the competition to come. Starting Tuesday night, when the top dozen men perform, Loewenstern and Langone will be enemies.

So let’s match them up now: which of these hopefuls do you see advancing the farthest on American Idol?

Stefano Langone on American Idol Title: I Want This!

Simply put, Stefano Langone wants this.

The 21-year old Washington native shared his personal story with American Idol judges in San Francisco last night: in 2009, he survived a terrible fire, from which was doctors gave him little chance to walk or function normally again…

… but he was back on his feet within four months.

Inspiring stuff, to be sure, but it was Stefano’s rendition of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” (below) that helped him advance to Hollywood. Then again, those “movie star good looks,” as J. Lo said, likely didn’t hurt.
