As noted in our Les Miserables review, we weren’t huge fans of this big screen adaption.
But Anne Hathaway deserves all the Oscar buzz circulating around Hollywood, thanks to her rendition of the classic track “I Dreamed a Dream.”
Was it the best version we’ve heard of this single over the last few years, though?
Susan Boyle rose to fame by covering the song on Britain’s Got Talent, while Lea Michele and Idina Menzel teamed up for a rendition on Glee.

Russell Crowe had to be bailed out by the U.S. Coast Guard over the weekend after a kayaking trip went wrong off the coast of New York’s Long Island.
The star, who is in the area filming Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, launched from Cold Spring Harbor Saturday afternoon, but got lost at sea as it grew dark.
Crowe and a friend managed to make their way to shore, beaching their kayaks in Huntington Bay, nearly 10 miles east from where they had set out.

William & Catherine: A Royal Romance Teaser Released, Beyond Bad

We love Prince William and Kate Middleton, but suffice it to say William & Catherine: A Royal Romance won’t be winning any major awards come Oscar time.
If this teaser is any indication, the Hallmark Channel film looks even cheesier than the company’s greeting cards … which we suppose is to be expected.
Still, the acting displayed here by Alice St. Clair (Kate Middleton), Dan Amboyer (Prince William) and Victor Garber (Prince Charles)? Not un-amazing.

Despite these two drawbacks, the superhero film was number-one at the box office, beating out a pair of sequels, Jim Carrey’s latest big screen effort and J.J. Abrams’ alien adventure.

Hollywood was taken over by Green Lantern fever last night.
Every bit as charismatic and handsome in person, Ryan Reynolds walked the red (black) carpet at the Green Lantern premiere, speaking with fans and reporters alike outside Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd.

Gabrielle Giffords: Released from Hospital

Gabrielle Giffords has taken a major step on her path to a full recovery.
The Arizona Congresswoman, who was shot in the head by a crazed gunman in January, was released from a hospital in Houston yesterday. She will soon begin outpatient care.
“We are very excited that she has reached the next phase of her rehabilitation,” said Dr. Gerard Francisco, the hospital’s chief medical officer, who will continue to supervise Giffords.
Giffords’s also spoke out, referring to his wife’s time at TIRR Memorial Hermann and her road to come.

Russell Crowe is in a bit of a hot spot after tweeting much about his views on circumcision. His vocal opinion came after a fan asked him about this issue. His reply on Twitter was pretty much how we all know Russell Crowe and his candid, non- amorous, rough around the edges expressive ways. He tweets on circumcision as barbaric and stupid and questions the matter on our position to correct nature. “ Is it real that God requires a donation of foreskin? Babies are perfect.”

There’s no defending Tracy Morgan’s recent homophobic rant, in which he referred to gays who commit suicide as “pussies” and said he’d stab his son if he were to come out of the closet.
Tina Fey, who works with Morgan on 30 Rock and has known him for years, isn’t trying to. She said the “violent imagery” of the diatribe was “disturbing” to her and Morgan clearly “went too far.”
But the actress also stood up for her co-star in general, telling TMZ yesterday that Morgan isn’t a bad person.

Brangelina Donates $500,000 to Joplin, Missouri

Once again, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated a large chunk of change to a very good cause.
In this case, it’s $500,000 to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks to assist the residents of Joplin, Missouri, whose town was destroyed by a tornado last month.
“With the devastating loss of thirty percent of the city, the Joplin community faces great challenges ahead. Having spent much of my childhood there, I know these people to be hardworking, humble and especially resilient,” said Pitt.
Added Jolie: “Our hearts go out to the families in Joplin who have lost so much.”
