Hugo Chavez: Dead!

Hugo Chavez, the firebrand President of Venezuela, has died at the age of 58.

Unlike last week’s erroneous reports of his demise, this time it’s the real deal.

Vice President Nicolas Maduro, who reported that Chavez was battling for life earlier this week, confirmed that he lost the battle about 45 minutes ago.

Maduro said that Hugo Chavez died at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday.

“We must unite now more than ever,” said Maduro, fighting back tears and flanked by cabinet ministers, calling on Venezuelans to remain “peaceful and respectful.”

Maduro said plans for Chavez’s state funeral are

Rush Limbaugh: Ashamed of America!

You’ve done it now, Democrats. You’ve made Rush Limbaugh officially “ashamed” to be an American.

That’s how the conservative radio host described himself yesterday when ranting about the budget sequestration, an issue President Obama says could cripple the economy if Congress can’t strike a deal before next month.

Limbaugh believes that argument from Obama – who said yesterday that love of rich people binds the GOP together – is an “insult” to his “common sense and intelligence.”

“Here they come… sucking us in, roping us in,” Limbaugh

Obama on GOP: Helping Rich People Binds Them Together!

President Barack Obama said on Al Sharpton’s radio show that the one thing holding the Republican party together these days is its love of rich people.

Obama said on Al Sharpton’s radio show: “My sense is that their basic view is that nothing is important enough to raise taxes on wealthy individuals or corporations.”

“They would prefer to see these kinds of cuts that could slow down our recovery over closing tax loopholes. That’s the thing that binds their party together at this point.”

Whoa, tell us how you really feel, B!!

State of the Union 2013: President Obama Lays Out Expansive Agenda, Urges Action

President Barack Obama outlined an ambitious agenda in his 2013 State of the Union address, focusing on the economy as well as many other issues.

Obama called for raising the minimum wage, increasing spending on infrastructure, curbing climate change and passing new gun control legislation.

Obama State of the Union 2013

In what felt like a campaign speech, he repeated earlier calls for reducing the budget deficit through a mix of revenue increases, tax reform and spending cuts.

He also said he would support “modest reforms” in government programs including Medicare, as long as

Obama Gun Photo Released Amid Call For Stronger Regulations

A photo of President Barack Obama skeet shooting at Camp David has been released following a claim last week that he engages in the activity regularly.

It is the only known photo of Obama with a gun, and also comes amid a White House-backed push for stronger gun control regulations in the U.S.

The photo shows Obama targeting clay pigeons at the presidential retreat last August, which he said he does “all the time” during stays at the compound.

The comment, in an interview last Sunday, was a response to a question of whether he had ever held a firearm. Obama told the New More >

Joe Biden: Shotgun Beats Assault Rifle in Case of Earthquake!

Vice President Joe Biden really needs a reality show, as a recent White House petition called for. He gave Americans a glimpse of why Friday in a Google+ Hangout.

The always-outspoken Veep (and possible 2016 election candidate) went off on a tangent on shotguns, assault rifles, and protecting yourself during an earthquake.

Take a look:

Joe Biden Shotgun

Senate Democrats introduced their 2013 assault weapons ban earlier in the week, a controversial measure that faces an uncertain future in Congress.

Among many fair questions about such a bill: How can you ban assault weapons

Kelly Clarkson Inauguration Performance: No Lip-Synching Here!

It’s been confirmed, much to the chagrin of many fans: Beyonce lip-synched the national anthem at yesterday’s Presidential Inauguration.

And while this is common procedure for many singers during live events, the same rep who outed Beyonce has come out and made it clear:

Kelly Clarkson performed live during her time on stage. There was no back-up track assistance involved with this amazing “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” rendition:

Jason Wu: Michelle Obama Inaugural Ball Dress Designer, Take Two!

First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama wore a gorgeous gown to the Inaugural Ball on Monday night, one designed by none other than Jason Wu.

Wu also dressed Michelle for her first Inaugural Ball four years ago!

A far cry from the one-shouldered white gown Michelle wore in 2009, the high halter neck and the rich red color really helped this one stand out.

The high-waisted belt is also one of the FLOTUS’ trademark looks.

Her new bangs, Jimmy Choo shoes and a Kimberly McDonald ring made her a vision on the evening of President Barack Obama’s inauguration.

President Obama Sworn In for Second Term

It’s official: we have four more years of Barack Obama as Commander-in-Chief.

The President was sworn in for the second time today, as Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the oath of office in the White House Blue Room a little before noon.

It will take place again in public tomorrow on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

Following the mishap in 2009, when Roberts misplaced the word “faithfully,” the judge read the oath this time around from a piece of paper.

And all went smoothly, at least according to Sasha Obama, who reportedly turned to her father soon after his promise to

NRA President Defends Ad, Prepares For "War" With Obama

NRA President David Keene said he is aggressively preparing for “battle” with the White House and Congress over President Obama’s gun control plan.

He also defended the new NRA ad calling Obama an “elitist hypocrite.”

NRA Ad: Obama a Hypocrite

Keene criticized Obama’s announcement Wednesday, surrounded by four children from around the U.S., for “using kids to advance an ideological agenda.”

He expressed confidence that few measures would ultimately pass.

“It’s going to be very tough for the president to accomplish some of these things, but that doesn’t mean he can’t do it if

Jodie Foster Sons: Father Unknown?

Following Jodie Foster’s Golden Globe speech, during which she indirectly came out as a lesbian for the first time, a number of questions have arisen.

Among them: Who is the father of her sons, 14-year-old and Charles and 12-year-old Kit, whom she co-parents with former partner Cydney Bernard?

Speculation has long been that the late producer Randy Stone, Jodie’s confidante, is the father of the boys, who were by their mom’s side Sunday.

Not surprisingly, given the somewhat pointed nature of her speech, Jodie has never commented on the subject – not even to Charlie and Kit

Romney Final Vote Total: 47 Percent!

Mitt Romney’s final vote total in the 2012 presidential election has been tallied, and the Republican challenger received – wait for it – 47 percent of the vote.

Yes, it took this entire time to finalize it (you just didn’t hear about it because it wasn’t close), and Romney came in almost exactly at the 47 percent figure.

47.2 percent to be exact.

Many will find the number appropriate and ironic, as Romney made waves when a secret video of him talking with donors surfaced late in the campaign season.

In the 47 percent video, he said that segment of the country would never vote

George Lucas: Engaged to Mellody Hobson!

Engaged to Mellody Hobson, he is.

Legendary director George Lucas announced today that he’s engaged to his long-time girlfriend, who is the president of a Chicago-based investment firm and someone who has accompanied Lucas on red carpets around the world for years.

Hobson often appears on Good Morning America as a financial analyst.

This will mark the second marriage for the Star Wars creator and after selling Lucasfilm to Disney for a cool $4 billion, let’s just hope he got Hobson one heck of a ring.

Or at least prime seats to the Star Wars Episode 7 premiere.

Despite a unique set of circumstances that made the idea feasible and rumors of his political ambitions, Ben Affleck will not be running for U.S. Senate.

“I love Massachusetts and our political process, but I am not running for office,” the Argo director wrote on his Facebook page Monday, December 24.

“We are about to get a great U.S. Secretary of State and there are some phenomenal candidates in Massachusetts for his Senate seat,” he added.

“I look forward to an amazing campaign.”

“Right now it’s a privilege to spend my time working with Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI),

Dump Trump Billboard: Circling Macy’s Headquarters!

The online campaign urging Macy’s to Dump Trump is hitting the streets – billboard style.

On Saturday, a mobile billboard attached to a truck began circling Macy’s headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as a nearby department store.

In New York, another mobile billboard began circling the company’s flagship store in Herald Square. The goal? Get Macy’s to cut ties with Donald Trump.
