Out of the horror of the Connecticut school shooting Friday came incredible acts of selflessness and bravery by teachers willing to sacrifice everything for their students.
Kaitlin Roig was able to save her 14 students by barricading them in the closet. She also survived. Victoria Soto was just as heroic, but not so fortunate.
Soto, 27, a first-grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School, ushered her students into a closet, placing her body between them and shooter Adam Lanza.

The first photos of Adam Lanza have been released, along with more information on the 20-year-old responsible for the Connecticut school shooting massacre yesterday.
The Newtown, Conn., native was a child of the suburbs and of divorce who still lived with his mother, Nancy, in the quiet town about an hour from N.Y. City.

The alleged shooter in today’s tragic Connecticut school shooting was identified by NBC News as Ryan Lanza, 24, who reportedly also killed his father in Hoboken, N.J.
However, reports now conflict as to whether this is truly the case; several sources believe his brother, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, was actually the shooter.

Jon Bon Jovi’s daughter Stephanie Bongiovi will not face criminal charges after her alleged heroin overdose at Hamilton College this week.
The Oneida County (N.Y.) District Attorney’s Office says it is dismissing all criminal charges against the rock legend’s 19-year-old daughter.
The 21-year-old male student involved with Stephanie Bongiovi’s overdose is also in the clear – legally, at least. Jon may have some words for him …
Stephanie was arrested after being treated by emergency medical personnel following the alleged overdose in her dorm room on Wednesday.

A woman has been fired and reported to the U.S. Secret Service for a racial slur and apparent assassination threat against President Barack Obama on Facebook.
According to California’s Modesto Bee, Denise Helms, 22, went OFF on the social networking site after Obama won reelection over Mitt Romney Tuesday.
She called Obama the n-word, adding that “maybe he will be assassinated” this term.
Just kidding? Evidently not. Helms was then interviewed by a Sacramento TV station … and she “wouldn’t mind one bit” if someone assassinated Obama.

The decorated former chief of U.S. Central Command cited an extramarital affair.
