We recently reported Christopher Meloni’s surprising resignation from perennial favorite TV show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. This coming months after co-star Mariska Hargitay’s expected announcement that this coming season would be her last. She’ll participate in a limited role without Meloni.
Much speculation began over who would replace television’s favorite detectives Benson and Stabler. Jennifer Love Hewitt’s name came up often but batted down often. Today it’s official, Hewitt will not be gracing the mucho popular Law & Order spin-off.

It’s been a long time coming, but Law & Order: SVU actress Mariska Hargitay and her husband, Peter Hermann, are the proud parents of a baby girl.
“The couple are overjoyed by the wonder of their new daughter,” her rep says. “Her brother, August, is thrilled to have the sister he’s always wanted.”
The star and her husband, who wed in 2004, have named her new daughter, who is adopted from here in the United States, Amaya Josephine.

Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay adopts baby girl

(HMG Celebrity News) – Popular Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, have adopted a baby girl. A NY Post source says, “Mariska was really affected by her accident in 2008, which caused a collapsed lung. She had been trying for a baby but decided to go for adoption. Baby Amaya Josephine was born about a week ago and is from Texas.
“The couple are overjoyed by the wonder of their new daughter,” the 47-year-old’s rep told Usmagazine.com.
“Her brother, August, is thrilled to have the sister he’s always wanted,” Hargitay’s spokesperson added.
