With Randy Jackson having official resigned his post and Jennifer Hudson reportedly on the way, Mariah Carey made it official today:
She has left the series after one season.

During an appearance today on Good Morning America, the singer first complained about being awake at the early hour of 8:30.

She’s renewing her vows with Nick Cannon. She’s fighting off insults from Nicki Minaj. She’ll likely be sending out resumes for a new job once American Idol Season 12 comes to an end.
But the superstar still found time to shoot the official music video for her latest single, as “#Beautiful” finds Mariah teaming with Miguel and writing around on a motorcycle.

Much to the chagrin of Fox, it turns out viewers might not want to watch two multi-millionaire recording superstars snipe at each other for two hours straight.
Amazing, right?
But the ratings for last night’s American Idol premiere fell by 19 percent in comparison to the Season 11 opener, as 17.8 million households tuned in to see Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey go at it.

Congratulations are in order for Shakira and her boyfriend Gerard Pique! Shakira has given birth to a baby boy!
Pique tweeted the birth announcement Thursday night in Spanish. Translated it said, “Our son has been born! We are very happy! Thanks to all for your messages.”
Shakira served as a mentor on The Voice this fall and Pique is a soccer player for FC Barcelona.
This is the first child for the both parents. Congratulations on the new addition!

Fox has announced that Season 12 of television’s highest-rated show will debut over two nights in early 2013: Wednesday, January 16 and Thursday, January 17.
The series has also unveiled a new promotional photo, courtesy of E! News, which at least makes it look like Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are getting along. At least for the 30 seconds it took to snap this picture…

Without taking sides, and with an eye toward quieting the critics, American Idol producers have released a statement in regard to this week’s simmering Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey feud.
“This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we’ve ever had,” the producers said in response to Minaj going off on Carey during a taping in Charlotte.
“We love and support all of the judges and the fantastic work they are doing, and we can’t imagine a better group to find the next American Idol.”

“My wife is the strongest and classiest woman that I’ve ever met,” Cannon said today on Access Hollywood Live when asked about Minaj going off on Carey during an early Season 12 audition episode.
