Out of the horror of the Connecticut school shooting Friday came incredible acts of selflessness and bravery by teachers willing to sacrifice everything for their students.
Kaitlin Roig was able to save her 14 students by barricading them in the closet. She also survived. Victoria Soto was just as heroic, but not so fortunate.
Soto, 27, a first-grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School, ushered her students into a closet, placing her body between them and shooter Adam Lanza.

Dawn Hochsprung, Sandy Hook Principal, Mourned After School Shooting

The astonishing Connecticut school shooting Friday claimed the lives of 26 people in Newtown, Conn., will be tragically remembered for the 20 small children slain.
Six adults were also killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School, however, notably Dawn Hochsprung, the principal and a committed educator beloved by students.
The principal died trying to protect the students she cared for every day.
The gunman, identified as 20-year-old Adam Lanza, started his rampage in the school’s main office, where Hochsprung had reportedly come out of a meeting.

Jon Gosselin won’t be seeing his kids on Christmas, because according to mother Kate Gosselin, the kids are now old enough to choose – and THEY CHOSE HER!
“They’re at the age now where we ask them,” Kate told omg! Yahoo. “So they basically dictate it and they want to be home Christmas and the days surrounding it.”
Kate, 37, has primary custody of their eight offspring, but the kids have typically spent Christmas Eve with Jon Gosselin and then Christmas Day with her.

Brother of Ariel Winter Defends Mom Against Abuse Allegations

A day after reports surfaced that Modern Family star Ariel Winter has been legally removed from her home as authorities investigate claims of abuse against her mother, the 14-year old’s brother has spoken out.
“There is no truth to these allegations,” Jimmy Workman tells Us Weekly. “The allegations made 20 years ago are not true and the ones today are not true.”
In the latter instance, Jimmy is referring to the fact that Ariel’s sister – Shanelle Gray, with whom Winter currently resides – was also transplanted from her house two decades ago due to similar abuse claims.

Austin Reed Sigg Arrested for Murder of Jessica Ridgeway

Austin Reed Sigg, a 17-year old Colorado native, has been arrested for the killing of Jessica Ridgeway, a 10-year old in his neighborhood whose body was discovered last Friday.
Jefferson County District Attorney Pam Russell told CNN that formal charges of murder and kidnapping will be brought against Sigg on Monday, and he will be tried as an adult.
Ridgeway disappeared on her way to school on October 5. Her corpse (described by authorities as “not intact”) was found in a park just five miles from where she and Sigg reside in Westminster.

Family and friends of Lindsay and Dina Lohan are urging both women to go to rehab following their epic fight yesterday morning, according to reports.
The two had been clubbing in NYC until 4 a.m., then began arguing over money en route home to Dina’s place on Long Island. There, it got physical.
Police responded to a 911 call and filed a report, though no one was arrested. Lindsay also called her dad and pleaded for help, fearing her coked up devil of a mom.

At 8:46 this morning, practically all major networks turned their coverage to the moment of silence observed in New York City and Washington, D.C. on behalf of the thousands who died on September 11, 2001.
Except for NBC. It aired an interview with Kris Jenner instead.
What was the program thinking?!?

Yup. It’s getting very ugly between Adrienne Maloof and Paul Nassif.
In court today to determine custody of their three kids, the soon-to-be-divorced spouses went at it via their attorneys, with the most damning allegations being leveled against The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star.
Witnesses tell TMZ that Nassif’s attorney argued in front of a judge that Maloof has referred to her husband as “stupid, dumb and an idiot” in the presence of their kids.

A judge has awarded the singer primary custody of the two children he shares with ex-wife Tameka Foster.
The case has gone back and forth for months, with Foster alleging that Usher was an irresponsible father who took drugs in front of his kids.
