Katie Couric has perfected the art of easy conversation on TV.
Easy, nutritious meals for her kids? That’s more challenging.
One ingredient that’s always the menu, however? Milk.
“When you’re adding milk to your breakfast you’re getting all sorts of added benefits,” says the talk-show host in a new ad with girls Ellie, 21, and Carrie, 17.
“You’re getting protein when you put it in your cereal,” observes Katie, a paid spokesperson for the National Milk Mustache “Got Milk?” campaign.
“You’re getting calcium when you add it to coffee or just drinking it straight up.”
Katie Couric may have left The Today Show in 2006, but she still has some strong opinions regarding the current state of the program. Specifically, its handling of Ann Curry.
And they aren’t very positive.
“I felt really bad for Ann. I still don’t understand why they didn’t give her sort of a proper send-off,” Couric told Philly.com this week as part of her promotion for Katie, which premieres on September 10, adding:
“Ann did some extraordinary work during her time there. It was just not the best chapter in The Today Show. It made me sad for the institution.”
That’s for sure.

According to TV Guide Magazine, Ashton Kutcher is pocketing $700,000 per episode of “Two and a Half Men,” a figure that effectively makes him the highest paid star on American TV currently.
The magazine recently published its “Who Earns What” edition, in which it claimed that Kutcher will end up making $16.8 million for the upcoming 24 episode season of “Two and a Half Men.” The total sum is still half a million shy of what Sheen pocketed in his final season on “Men before being scripted out of the show.”
Sheen has however claimed that his actual paycheck per episode was $2 million, whichMore >
Katie Couric was a guest host on ‘The View’ yesterday and after a pleasant chat with the girls about fashion, Katis confessed she’d like to ‘castrate’ Miley Cyrus.
Kate, 54, explained she’d seen a photo of Miley smoking a cigarette and thought that set a bad example for the singer’s thousands of fans. As a mother herself she considers Miley a bad influence on young minds.
Whoopi Goldberg, who is also a smoker, told Katie she didn’t consider herself a bad influence on children and should be free to pursue a few grown-up indulgences, just as 18-year old Miley should.

Since her widely disputed acquittal on July 5 Casey Anthony has been deluged with offers for everything from books to a porn film, but if the rumors are true she’s about to get a real peach – to be Katie Couric’s first guest.
“We’re very interested in Casey Anthony,” an ABC source tells E. “Like everyone else, we were following her case very closely and we’d love to have that get.”
When it was suggested someone like Diane Sawyer could host the encounter and deftly hang Casey out to dry on national TV, the insider dissented;

Matt Lauer may say he’s considering leaving the Today Show, but really, sexy beast just wants to line those coffers, if you follow where we’re coming from.
Unlike Glenn Beck leaving Fox, Katie Couric exiting CBS or Matt’s own co-host Meredith Vieira bolting Today, Matt’s only real endgame is a bigger payday.
At least according to TMZ, which reports that he’s angling for a $25 million contract. ANNUALLY. Matt currently pays the bills on a measly $17 million.
Sources connected with NBC say talk of Matt leaving Today is nothing more than a well timed negotiating ploy, following Vieira’sMore >
Katie Couric’s replacement on the CBS Evening News will be Scott Pelley, a veteran journalist and 60 Minutes correspondent, according to reports.
Pelley is the choice of CBS News Chairman Jeff Fager, who became Chairman in February on the condition he could decide who takes the desk.
He believes Scott is well-liked and respected by his bosses, and just as significantly, there really is no second choice who appeals to CBS bosses.
Couric is leaving the desk to do a syndicated show at the network, but may maintain a news presence. What do you think of her replacement?
