The sprinter – who lost out on Gold in the 100-meter hurdles when she hit an obstacle on the home stretch and who then finished in fourth place by a tenth of a second yesterday – was the subject of a feature in The New York Times Sunday.

Following performances by Adam Lambert and Diddy Dirty Money, the first American Idol finalist received the news he/she was fearful to hear tonight: it was time to go home.
Who would the unlucky contestant be? Ashthon Jones, who sung Diana Ross one more time for the judges in an attempt to stave off elimination. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, as Jennifer Lopez broke the news to the hopeful: “Not this time, baby, I’m sorry. And it was unanimous.”
Jones proceeded to break down in tears and was comforted by her fellow finalists as the credits rolled.

The latest season of Celebrity Apprentice may have debuted last night, but NeNe Leakes didn’t wait until the premiere to tell the world how she feels about Star Jones.
“Star’s not nice,” Leakes said on The Talk last week. “Anybody who has ever worked with her would side with me. She’s not a nice person. She’s a witch… with a ‘b’ in front.”
Describing Jones as a “back stabber,” Leakes added during a conference call with reporters: “There are a lot of people who don’t like Star, so I won’t be the only one.”

The Tennessee native joined others such as Paul McDonald and Haley Reinhart in being named a season 10 semifinalist last night. Such an honor completes an amazing journey for Jones, who started singing with her church choir.
She actually ran away at the age of 15, a year after the man who raised her since birth passed away. Ashthon has never met her biological father. A fan of painting and roller skating, Jones never gave up on her dream. Might it lead to an American Idol title? She’s on her way…

Former Spice Girls member Emma Bunton has taken to Twitter to announce her engagement to Jade Jones, the man with whom she’s expecting a second child. Tweeted the British singer today:
“Yahooooo I’m Engaged! Love you Jade! I’m a very happy lady!”
Bunton and Jones have been together for 10 years and have a son named Beau.

Sam Jones III Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges, May Face 20 Years in Jail

Sam Jones III, who played Clark Kent’s pal Pete Ross on Smallville from 2001-2008, pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell the painkiller oxycodone yesterday.
The “hillbilly heroin” dealer now faces up to 20 years in jail.
Jones was arrested at his Canoga Park, Calif., home in 2009 by the DEA.
According to the U.S. Attorneys Office, he pleaded guilty to serving as the “Hollywood connection” in a conspiracy to sell more than 10,000 pills.
Most recently, Jones had a regular role as Craig Shilo in the series Blue Mountain State.
