James Durbin: Shocked by American Idol Elimination
James Durbin has to be honest: he didn’t see his elimination coming on Thursday night.
The aspiring rocker tells MTV he “definitely” was surprised by the development, and has spent the time since remember why he originally auditioned.
“It’s for my family and to try and give a voice to a genre of music that seems like it’s slowly fading away,” Durbin says. “I really accomplished a lot on the show, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
We all saw James fight back tears after learning of his fate, but he’s now accepted it. And is excited about all the future has in store.
“I haven’t failed

James Durbin: In It To Win It On American Idol
James Durbin, along with Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, is “in it to win it.”
So sayeth Randy Jackson in an apparent attempt to get Haley Reinhart and Jacob Lusk voted out. Did James live up to the judge’s high praise on Wednesday?
Mostly. The Idol hopefuls picked songs both new and old, getting advice from Sheryl Crow. James began with Thirty Seconds to Mars’ “Closer to the Edge”:

Jimmy Iovine says James’ voice fits better with this kind of material than it does with the ’80s hard rock he likes so much, but that’s somewhat

The Hangover 2 Producers Sued For Mike Tyson Face Tattoo Ripoff
If you’ve seen The Hangover, you know Mike Tyson has a small, but pivotal and hilarious role. He’s not in the sequel, but if you’ve seen The Hangover 2 previews, you know his infamous face tattoo is – when Ed Helms wakes up with it.
The guy who tattooed Tyson in real life years ago is unamused.
The Hangover 2 Clip – Where Are We?
S. Victor Whitmill claims he created AND copyrighted the tat he affixed to Mike Tyson’s face in 2003, and is suing Warner Bros. in federal court.
Whitmill says he’s never allowed anyone to use the image and that the studio violated his copyright by using it

Wild Pitcher: Derek Lowe Arrested For DUI
Quite the week for the Atlanta Braves.
First, pitching coach Roger McDowell’s gay slurs came under heavy scrutiny from the league. Now pitcher Derek Lowe has been arrested for a DUI.
At least Chipper Jones (.289, 21 RBIs) hasn’t been hurt yet this year.
Lowe got popped last night in Atlanta after a trooper stopped him “detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage” and gave him a field sobriety test.
Lowe’s BAC wasn’t higher than his WHIP (1.34) but it may have been close.
Lowe refused to take the state administered alcohol test and was booked and taken to the jail in Atlanta. He was
More >Who Will Host The X-Factor?
The judges appear to be in place. But who will be The X-Factor‘s version of Ryan Seacrest this fall?
Entertainment Weekly reports that two names are close to finalizing deals as the competition’s co-hosts: former High School Musical star Corbin Bleu and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherziner.
Bleu made his mark on the Disney Channel, but he’s since gone on to anchor In the Heights on Broadway for a run. Scherzinger, meanwhile, is a favorite of producer Simon Cowell, who says he absolutely adores the beauty.
Contracts for both will need to be signed soon, as production is scheduled to

American Idol Results: The End of the Road For …
Well? Who among American Idol‘s magnificent seven is no longer with us?
Did someone we expected to stick around a lot longer get the boot? Or did America send one of the guys many people had in the bottom three packing?
As we saw it, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery and Stefano Langone were in danger, with James Durbin, Casey Abrams, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart safe.
We were two-thirds correct. Jacob, Haley and Stefano were on the block …
Follow the jump to see which singer left American Idol this evening …
Stefano Langone ended his run on the show in seventh place.

Haley Reinhart Goes Rolling in the Deep
Matching efforts by James Durbin, Casey Abrams or even Lauren Alaina was a tall order for Haley Reinhart, who chose to sing Adele’s “Rolling the Deep.”
While choosing such a current hit is always a risk (especially a hit sung by, you know, Adele), Haley did her best to do it justice, vocally and emotionally.
Jennifer said there were moments where she did it better than Adele. We’re not going that far, because it was far from perfect. But she held her own.
Watch Haley Reinhart do her thing here and vote below …

Uprising: James Durbin Muses on American Idol
Last night on American Idol, James Durbin covered Muse, conjuring up images of Adam Lambert a few seasons ago. Durbin’s song choice: “Uprising.”
“I haven’t gotten to show that I can be contemporary,” he said, hoping to escape the metal/hard rock label. Suffice it to say, it worked and then some.
He’s sounded better in the past. But he probably hasn’t looked better.
The drums, the spinning cameras, the flashing lights and, of course, James’ natural feel for performing sent the crowd and judges into hysterics.
After praising his cover of the Matthew Bellamy-led band, Steven made a crack

American Idol Power Rankings: Scotty in Front, Stefano in Back
With the top seven on tap to perform tonight, THG’s American Idol Power Rankings break down who we like this week and who we think is likely to go home.
Of course, who we think leads the pack means very little in the end (you can ask Pia Toscano), but it’s still fun to try our hand at predicting the reality competition.
Take a look at how we size up the field and see if you agree:
1. Scotty McCreery. Kind of a sleeper favorite. He should go country this week and go far this spring, though. Take it to the bank (NOTE: don’t, actually).
2. James Durbin. We were willing to give metal a

Casey Abrams Goes Back to Nature, Boy
“It’s hard to find a song that defines me as an artist.” – Casey Abrams
These American Idol kids are getting frisky. Like James Durbin, Casey butted heads a bit with producer Jimmy Iovine regarding his selection Wednesday.
Jimmy nearly talked Abrams into doing Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight,” but he went with his gut and that meant channeling a little Nat King Cole.
Iovine wasn’t pleased, but the judges give a standing ovation after a intimate, stripped down performance that Casey really put his heart and soul into.
Whether “Nature Boy” defines him as an artist remains to be seen. But
