Mark Sanford won back his old seat in the U.S. House, edging Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the older sister of Stephen Colbert, in a South Carolina special election.
The state’s former two-term Republican governor overcame a series of missteps to earn about 54 percent of the vote in the conservative-leaning district.
Elizabeth Colbert Busch would have been the first Democrat to represent South Carolina’s 1st congressional district in 30 years, but came up just short.

Florida Sinkhole Photos Revealed; Missing Man Now Presumed Dead

Demolition crews are working on razing the Florida home where a sinkhole opened up last week underneath a bedroom, swallowing a sleeping man.
Jeff Bush, 37, was declared “presumed dead” by Hillsborough County officials on Sunday as rescue workers abandoned hope of recovering his body.
Looking at photos of the Florida sinkhole, you can see why:
The goal now is to demolish the rest of the house before efforts will begin to stabilize the sinkhole, said William Puz, a spokesman for Hillsborough County.

Nipple Slips Targeted By N.C. Lawmakers: Too Much "Exposure" Could Mean Felony

North Carolina representatives have introduced a bill that would “clarify” a state law to ban nipple slips and otherwise prohibit the baring of breasts.
Women worried about showing too much of their “private area” should use pasties or even duct tape from now on… or they could be breaking the law.
Basically, do not emulate any Kate Upton photos like this one.
The proposed legislation, House Bill 34, would make it a Class H felony to expose “external organs of sex and of excretion, including the nipple.”

Brothers Blow Up House Celebrating Lottery Win, Are Not Smart

A pair of brothers in Kansas won $75,000 in the lottery last week and proceeded to celebrate their newfound wealth in the only logical way possible:
By buying weed and meth and accidentally blowing up their home in Wichita.
According to The Wichita Eagle, one of the unnamed siblings went to the kitchen around 7 p.m. Friday to refuel the butane torches with which he planned to light the brothers’ bongs.
But when he emptied these large cans of fluid, butane leaked into the air and “as you might expect,” Sgt. Bruce Watts told the newspaper: “Ka-Boom.”

Oscar Pistorius: Bloody Cricket Bat Now Center of Investigation

A bloody cricket bat is now the center of the investigation into the death of Oscar Pistorius’ model girlfriend, according to a newspaper in South Africa.
Police are unsure if Reeva Steenkamp used the bat in self-defense or if the Olympic sprinter used it, either by hitting her or breaking down a door.
Steenkamp reportedly hid in the bathroom of his home and was shot four times through the door; a report says her skull may have been crushed as well.
