Casablanca: The Greatest Movie of All-Time?

Simply put, Casablanca is the greatest movie in cinematic history.

So state the good folks at Movie Fanatic, who have spent weeks counting down the top 100 films of all-time.

The rankings finally concluded today with a final three of Vertigo, Taxi Driver and the Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman classic that “continues to compel every new generation that comes along,” according to the site. Why?

“Because it is equal parts timeless romance and war drama, whose themes could not be more universal, regardless of the era.”

That’s lofty praise. Do you agree with the ranking? Is

James Durbin: On Fire!

Is there any doubt now that James Durbin is a rock star?

The American Idol finalist started his Elton John cover (of “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”) in the crowd last night, eventually making his way on to the stage, belting out the lyrics – and leaping off the piano just as it caught fire.

A bit of a gimmick? Sure. But entertaining and unexpected, as well.

Randy actually summed James up well with the following critique after the quasi rock concert: “You enjoy yourself; that’s the greatest thing about any performer performing.”

Justin Bieber to Willow Smith: More Cowbell!

During a tour stop in Manchester, England last week, Willow Smith was greeted by a surprise guest and an unexpected request: more cowbell!

Indeed, Justin Bieber jumped up on stage during a rendition of “Whip My Hair,” pounding this unusual instrument and getting into it like Will Ferrell in arguably the greatest Saturday Night Live sketch in history.

Jaden Smith also joined in the fun, which led the following Tweet from Willow: “My big brother’s Justin and Jaden pranked me on stage tonight…#payback!!!” (Willow is opening for Justin on the European leg of his tour.)

Charlie Sheen is taking his firing pretty well.

That is, if one can define “pretty well” as climbing to the rooftop of a building, wielding a machete and comparing oneself to Martin Luther King, Jr.

With Natalie Kenly by his side, Sheen waved to screaming fans and paparazzi members yesterday while standing atop the roof of concert promoter Live Nation’s building in Beverly Hills. Asked how he was doing, Sheen quoted the civil rights activist and said:

“Free at last! This is the greatest day of my life.”

Charlie Sheen: Free at Last!

Why was he meeting with Live Nation at all?

But Katherine Jackson’s lawyer, Kevin Boyle, says that based on new info, the family “determined that Mr. Ortega should not be a defendant.”

Kanye West Creates Twitter Account

Kanye West finally joined Twitter yesterday.

Upon hearing this, we had two thoughts:

  1. How was Kanye not on Twitter already?
  2. It’s only a matter of time until Taylor Swift’s account gets hijacked and Kanye’s is proclaimed the greatest Twitter account of all time! OF ALL TIME!

Just kidding. Kanye’s entry into the Twitter-verse began with this simple, boring declaration: “Up early in the morning taking meetings in Silicone Valley.”

But then: “Lol I spelled Silicon wrong ( I guess I was still thinking about the other type of silicone ITS A PROCESS!! : ),” Yup, he’s definitely arrived.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Aims to Inspire, Fails

True, inspirational words.

Now, in the latest issue of People, the actress says she wants to urge young women to not focus on their weight, saying:

“When I meet young girls, I’m always like, ‘Just do me one favor.’ Love what you look like right
