Glenn Beck accepted a First Amendment award from Talkers magazine last night – but the former Fox News host gave a speech that was more conciliatory than celebratory.
Without mentioning any specific events, the controversial pundit said:
“For any role that I have played in dividing, I wish I can take them back. don’t wish I could take back the truth that was spoken but perhaps… many times I could have said it differently.”

On his TheBlaze TV show Thursday, the conservative commentator slammed the wrestling organization due to its portrayal of Zeb Colter, an overly patriotic grappler who Beck feels is “demonizing” the Tea Party.
“You’re making a villain out of what?” Beck asked, adding that the company is alienating its fans: “Probably 80% of your audience who’s tired as it is of being miscast? They’re tired of this.”

Ivanka Trump is blasting a report that claimed she and her siblings staged an intervention, asking father Donald Trump to back off his public bashing of President Obama.
The Trump heiress took to Twitter today to call out the N.Y. Daily News:
“I totally respect @realDonaldTrump’s opinions & right to articulate them, which is what I would’ve told @nydailynews if they’d call me to fact check their false story,” she wrote.

Marco Rubio Not Vetted By Mitt Romney For V.P.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, a rising Republican political star, is not being vetted by Mitt Romney for the Vice Presidential nomination, according to reports.
It was widely assumed that even if he didn’t get the nod, Rubio, 41, would at least be on Romney’s short list of possible V.P. picks for obvious reasons.
Young, charismatic and wildly popular with conservatives, he could also help Republicans win a key state (Florida) and make inroads with Hispanics.
Apparently Romney isn’t looking at Rubio for the post, however.

Microsoft Unveils Surface Tablet, Competition for iPad

Simply put, it is on between Microsoft and Apple.
The computer giant announced direct competition for the iPad yesterday at a press event in Los Angeles, unveiling the Surface tablet, a device outlined by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer as a “companion hardware innovation” for Windows 8.
What will user experience be like on the Surface?
The technology will come equipped with a 10.6-inch rectangle display; a built-in kickstand; and a 3mm thick cover that also acts as a multi-touch keyboard.

Kelly Clarkson singing Coldplay? Like Usher singing Foster the People, it’s a cover we can’t say we saw coming, but one you’ll find is memorably good.
The American Idol winner and Duets star paid a visit to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge – the same venue as Usher’s aforementioned cover – last week.
On it, she took on the Coldplay and Rihanna hit “Princess of China” in stripped down, acoustic rendition featuring just guitar, mandolin and vocals.

Now, though, Elizabeth Hurley has signed on for a role that has the television world buzzing: Gossip Girl producers Stephanie Savage and Joshua Safran, tell TV Line that the British actress will play a character named Diana Payne. Look for her to appear on multiple season five episodes as a media mogul of some kind.
Sources say Elizabeth Hurley’s presence will “change the lives” of all individuals on the show… including Gossip Girl herself!

Three stars have been fired by producers of the semi-autobiographical NBC sitcom based on Chelsea Handler’s book Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea.
White Collar alum Natalie Morales, former ER star Angel Laketa Moore, and Chelsea Lately staple Jo Koy were cut by Vodka “for creative reasons.”
That 70′s Show‘s Laura Prepon is staying put as the star, playing a young Chelsea Handler in the sitcom, which is slated to premiere mid-season.

Sad news today out of the Australian Idol family: Jay Dee Springbett, a former judge on that nation’s version of American Idol, was found dead inside his Sydney apartment.
Friends say Springbett – who also served as an A&R executive at Sony Music for six years – had been suffering from depression, but authorities say the death is “not suspicious.”
