Kim Kardashian stepped Instagram first into the ongoing controversy surrounding gun control this week, posting a photo to that social network of a diamond-encrusted handgun.
It was quickly deleted, with a source telling E! News the publishing was some kind of “mistake” and “Kim hates guns.”
And yet… she has one? A diamond-encrusted one that likely cost well into the five figures? Here’s a look at the weapon/image in question:
On January 14, in response to the horrific Newton, Connecticut shooting, Kardashian Tweeted:

Subway customers are up in arms and busting out measuring tapes amid reports that the chain’s famous foot-long subs fall a half an inch or even a full inch short.

Corby found the sub measured only 11 inches long and took his outrage to Facebook, where he posted a photo of it with the caption “subway pls respond.”
The photo, predictably, sparked an abundance of similar photos on Facebook of subs being measured and countless comments onMore >
Facebook’s big announcement today involved the unveiling of a customized Facebook search engine called Graph Search. So what is this thing’s deal?

Zuckerberg and the tool’s creators showed how you can use Graph Search to dig through Facebook to find exactly who or what you want to find.
Zuckerberg, for example, said he and wife, Priscilla Chan, recently used it to search for “Mexican restaurants nearby that my friends have been to.”

One of the best-selling artists of the past year, Taylor Swift didn’t waste all her money on Match.com profiles. Far from it, in fact.
The 23-year old star was named by DoSomething.org as the top “celeb gone good” in 2012, donating more money to charity than any other famous person out there.
T. Swizzle leaped from #20 in 2011 to #1 this year mostly due to her $4 million donation to the Country Hall of Fame museum.
She was even recognized by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for her charitable efforts.

While an assault weapons ban will likely go before Congress in 2013, and while many are calling for stricter gun control laws in response to the Connecticut shooting, residents in at least two states are taking a different tact:
They’re getting locked and loaded.
On Saturday, Virginia state police reported 4,166 filings for background checks on those seeking to purchase a gun, that’s a whopping 42 percent increase from the same date in 2011.
It’s also the highest tally since the state starting tracking these transactions in 1989.

In a pair of recent Tweets, Miley Cyrus made two things clear:
- She is not a slut.
- She has no beef with Taylor Swift.
The singer made this announcement after acknowledging a Tweet from E!’s Ken Baker over the weekend, in which the reporter compared Miley’s love life with Swift’s dating history and implied Taylor gets around A LOT more.
Because Cyrus re-Tweeted Baker’s post, it was easy to imply she was called Swift out.
But Miley says she was simply defending her own reputation, writing of Baker:

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West may be growing closer by the day, but it will take a lot more than a few public displays of affection for the rapper to truly be a part of reality TV’s First Family.
As long as Kim’s ring finger and womb remain barren, an insider tells In Touch, West will “not [be] on the family Christmas card.”
“Kim has never had a boyfriend on the family Christmas card,” the source says. “The only guy she’s ever had on the family card was her first husband. If she marries Kanye, he’ll be on the card.
