The head of the European golf tour apologized for using the term “colored” in a TV interview in which he was reacting to the Tiger Woods-Sergio Garcia feud.
European Tour CEO George O’Grady commented, in defense of Garcia, that “most of Sergio’s friends are colored athletes in the United States.”
The word “colored” was once widely used in the United States to refer to African-Americans but it is now considered antiquated and offensive.
As a result, “I deeply regret using an inappropriate word in a live TV interview for Sky Sports for which I unreservedly apologize,” said More >
Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods are supposedly dating, a story that has generated great interest in the dual entertainment worlds of sports and gossip.
This wasn’t the first time the rumor has popped up, however.
On December 1, when European media first speculated about a Lindsey Vonn-Tiger Woods romance, she actually discussed it briefly – and denied it.
“Tiger and I are just friends,” the world skiing champion told the Denver Post. “My brother was the ski instructor for his kids this November in Vail.”
“Guessing that’s where it came from.”
Fair enough, right? Well, otherMore >
A new film, published by the European Commission and designed to promote women in scientific and research fields, describes science as a “girl thing.”
It combines generic pics of beakers and words like “hydrogen” with pictures of rail-thin models wearing designer sunglasses. There’s also a lot of pink.
Check it out below. Somewhat amazingly, it’s not a spoof:
Needless to say, the video went viral, but its lipstick-style logo, techno soundtrack and other touches struck some critics as “offensive” and “insulting.”
Some users were so surprised by the video that an ECMore >

Adam Lambert will join iconic band Queen on tour this summer, both sides announced this week, a development that follows the singer’s 2009 American Idol finale performance with original members Brian May and Roger Taylor; as well as their teaming up again at the MTV European Music Awards in November.
“The intention is to pay tribute to [late singer Freddie Mercury] and the band by singing some f-cking great songs,” Lambert tells Great Britain’s The Daily Star. “It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would have beenMore >
Exciting news: Some Mila Kunis pictures that weren’t hacked!
The gorgeous actress is joining the Christian Dior family in a new series of ads for the Miss Dior handbag, shot in New York by photographer Mikael Jansson.
The Kunis ad campaign will debut internationally in Asian and European editions of Elle, Vogue and Madame Figaro on January 15, with U.S. versions to follow.
Here are a couple of images from the campaign:
“I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Dior,” Kunis said in a statement. “The brand is iconic in so many ways. It defines fashion, elegance and sophistication.”
We’re closing in on 2012.
But before the champagne can be uncorked, we need to take a look back at 2011. In our 5th annual Celebrity of the Year countdown, we revisit the stars that made us laugh, made us cry, made us cringe and made us nearly vomit up our last meal (hello, Kardashians!) over the past 12 months.

A physically and mentally exhausted Rihanna recently solicited words of wisdom from none other than Beyonce, the wife of her frequent collaborator Jay-Z.
B’s advice was simple: Rest.
According to the UK’s Daily Mail, Rihanna had a near “meltdown” on the European leg of her 101-date tour and turned to Beyonce to help her stay strong.
Beyonce, in turn, told the 23-year-old singer to consider taking a year off from show business altogether after the culmination of her massive tour to res.
Whether the headstrong star actually follows through on that is another story, but if RiRi’s weekendMore >
Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London today.
Multiple sources confirm that the singer is the woman in this press release from the Metropolitan Police, which doesn’t specifically name her:

“On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death.”

Jersey Shore takes over Italy August 4.
In anticipation of the glorious fourth season, MTV has released some hilarious, cringe-inducing promo pics melding the guido lifestyle with the renaissance.
Think GTL meets the Sistine Chapel.
Images of the Garden State lowlife culture defacing European masterpieces may not help America’s standing in the Old Country, but man, the duck phone serving as a Venetian gondola? High-fives to MTV’s marketing department there:

Are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie planning a secret wedding in France? No. Chance.
Still, why let facts stand in the way of a great cover story? In Touch isn’t about to.
Then again, they’ve got a nice red ribbon claiming It’s Official. Maybe we’re just being cynical … or his publicist is the one getting married in France.
You have to love the bullet points, each of which can be explained away. Angelina’s stunning attire and Brad’s vow are not necessarily wedding related.
The surprising celeb guest? That could be anyone at any event.

Following a debacle in Serbia that some are calling the worst concert ever (it’s not a stretch), Amy Winehouse is calling off her summer European tour.
She clearly can’t hang, so this is 100 percent for the best.
It’s never a good sign when you get up on a stage in Belgrade, Serbia and shout “Hello Athens!” Or when you need to rest on a speaker. Or need a backup singer to pinch-hit and belt out lead vocals because you can’t.
And so on. Whatever her reason for canceling, Amy, who is fresh out of rehab (clearly it worked wonders), has postponed the dates indefinitely.

Richie Sambora is out of rehab and ready to get back into the business of rock ‘n roll.
The Bon Jovi guitarist checked into a treatment facility in April because he had been “drinking too much,” a source said at the time.
But he’s a free man now and the long-time rocker touched down in New York City last night. He will soon take off for Croatia. That’s where Bon Jovi plays on Wednesday night as parts of its European tour. We wish Sambora a full recovery.

When Ronnie Magro isn’t doling out beatings to The Situation in Italy, he and the rest of the cast have been dishing out pizzas at a parlor in Florence.
Apparently a rival pizza place in town – along with a majority of the locals in the European country – has already taken great offense to the idea.
“Munaciello Pizzeria has placed a bright green sign in their window that says, ‘Tamarri Americans: Jersey Shore‘ …. no thank you,” says a source.
Tamarri is Italian slang that can be roughly translated as yokel or uncultured idiot. Yup, that pretty much sums it up nicely. But they lookMore >
[HMG Celebrity News] – Justin Bieber is known for extravagant stage shows but his recent gig in Berlin included one visual effect even he didn’t plan on – He set his Mom’s hair on fire.
During the show at the ‘O2 World Arena’ in Berlin, Germany last Saturday Justin called for his mom to join him on stage;
“Mum, where are you?” he inquired, in front of the sold-out crowd. Pattie then emerged from backstage and was clearly stunned by the gift.
“This is for you, and I need everyone to sing Happy Birthday.” said the singer.
The crowd gladly obliged, but as Pattie blew out her candles there was aMore >
