THG’s second favorite Mormon is saying goodbye.
Or not goodbye, based on the title David Archuleta has given his latest video blog.
But the former American Idol runner-up is headed off on a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at an undisclosed country and won’t be around for a very long awhile to update fans on his life or career.

With wins in the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary, Mitt Romney has a leg up in the race for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
If he won the right to face our first African-American President, Barack Obama, Romney would become the first Mormon on a major party ticket.
While this is hardly an endorsement of Romney, good for him, and for voters embracing candidates of varying religions, backgrounds and ethnicity.

David Archuleta is about to leave the music business for two years, in order to fulfill a mission for his Mormon church, but he has released one final treat for fans before he departs.
The former American Idol second place finished has completed work on the official video for “Wait,” a track of Archuleta’s Asian Tour edition of the album “The Other Side of Down.” It’s based on the loss of a close friend.

Yes, the former American Idol finalist was dropped by Jive Records last week, but he’s recorded a new video blog entry in which he discusses the state of his career and sounds optimistic about what’s ahead.
“It took me a while to realize that have control of my life,” Archuleta says. “The decisions that I make, that’s what’s going to break not necessarily just my career, but my life, too. So I’m just excited where to go, the direction that I’m hoping to go now with music.”

David Archuleta started out his post-American Idol career with a disc, an appearance on i-Carly and a loyal fan base, but that fame has quickly come to an end for the 19-year-old singer.
Archuleta’s first album, released nearly 3 years ago went platinum, however his follow-up record, last September’s The Other Side of Down has sold just 67,000 copies to date.

David Archuleta is really into the Christmas spirit.
The singer helped light the famous tree at The Grove in Los Angeles last month and will also be featured alongside the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on an upcoming PBS special.
