U.S. Marines Get DOWN to "Hold It Against Me"

The few. The proud. The unlikely fans of Britney Spears.

The U.S. Marines from 266 Rein and HMLA 169 are a talented bunch. Not only do they deserve our respect and admiration for protecting our nation, they know how to have some fun – even “somewhere deep in the heart of Afghanistan.”

That’s where they produced and starred in this homage to Britney Spears’ hit, “Hold It Against Me,” which the singer personally saw and gave a shout-out to on her official blog. Experience the greatness of our country’s finest below:

Girl’s got moves … and flexibility. Watch her in action below:

Heather Morris Dances For Esquire

Heather fun fact – she got her break on Glee (where she’s perhaps best known for the Britney Spears episode) after being brought in as a choreographer.

Prior to that, she

Extended Preview For The Voice: Will You Watch?

NBC released a lengthy preview for The Voice – the network’s take on American Idol, X-Factor and the like – last night. It’s certainly … well, it’s different.

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are the judges and must pick talent in “blind” auditions where only The Voice counts.

Seriously. Their backs are turned to the performers …

The Voice – NBC Extended Preview

Interestingly, while the singers aspire to be chosen, the judges are also competing with each other to groom the best and brightest up-and-comers.

On one hand, it’s an interesting new spin. On

Katy Perry Goes Extraterrestrial on American Idol

With an assist from Kanye West, Katy Perry brought her futuristic new single “E.T.” to American Idol last night – skin-tight LED-laden bodysuit and all.

Performing her new hit song, the singer warbled her way through the pop song as she was surrounded by dancers dressed in alien-inspired costumes.

Much like the “E.T.” music video, Katy embodied the outer-space theme, carried onto the stage by her alien dance troupe at the start of the song.

The studio audience, who also saw David Cook perform last night, was surprised to see West joining Katy on stage for his verse. Here’s their duet:

David Cook Returns to American Idol, Performs "The Last Goodbye"

David Cook returned to his old stomping grounds last night.

Before the American Idol results were announced, fans were treated to an energetic performance of the Season 7 winner’s new single, “The Last Goodbye.”

A month ago or so, he appeared on the show to do the Simple Minds classic “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” but this time he shared with us his own song.

Dressed in a dark suit and strumming on an oversized white guitar, Cook showed why viewers made him the next American Idol a few years back:

Walk Much Lady? Gaga Falls HARD on Stage (Again)

For the second time this month, Lady Gaga took a fall in concert in Atlanta last night. And, in vintage Gaga fashion, got up and carried on, unfazed.

The pop star fell off of a fire-spewing piano during a concert in Houston April 10, and has taken numerous other spills and tumbles over the years.

As Weird Al’s Lady Gaga parody told us, she performs this way …

Jacob Lusk: Sabotaged By American Idol Producers?

Let the conspiracy theories begin.

Having drawn comparisons to Luther Vandross all season long, Jacob Lusk tackled the singer’s “Dance With My Father” on American Idol Wednesday night.

It seemed like this was a great opportunity for the Idol hopeful to really shine, but Jacob had trouble from the very first notes. The reason for that? Well …

When Ryan Seacrest asked why he was so emotional at the onset, Jacob said it wasn’t his emotions – there were mysterious drumming noises in his earpiece!

The mixup certainly didn’t help an already fringe candidate. What do you think? Could it have been

Stefano Langone: Soon to Be Long Gone?

Did Ne-Yo’s “Closer” help Stefano Langone get closer to the American Idol title?

Eh. Maybe it’s just us, but we weren’t feeling the sexy vibe he was trying to send out, and his vocals felt noticeably off-key at least a couple of times.

Will tonight be Stefano Langone‘s time to get the boot from American Idol? Or did he turn his hopes around? Watch him sing and see what you think:

Scotty McCreery Goes Swingin’ on Idol

Scotty McCreery made us rethink putting him atop our American Idol rankings prior to last night. His rendition of “Swingin’” was alright, just not spectacular.

It was an odd choice, first of all, given that it’s a John Anderson song from the ’80s performed on 21st Century Night (yes, LeAnn Rimes covered it recently).

LeAnn’s version wasn’t a huge hit and neither was Scotty’s. He had a blast and showed his considerable vocal skills, but somehow left us wanting more.

Were our expectations just too high? Watch and see what you think:

Perform This Way: Weird Al Parodies Lady Gaga!

Weird Al Yankovic, whose career comprised of parodying hit songs has lasted longer and been more lucrative than many of his subjects, has released a new gem.

“Perform This Way” is Al’s take on Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” and includes plenty of the satirical lyrical wordplay that are Yankovic’s hilarious trademarks.

Its release follows myriad reports that Gaga blocked the parody – which she can’t even do, legally, but Al always gets permission from the stars in good faith.

In any case, Gaga’s manager nixed it without telling her. Word got back to Gaga, who was not pleased. The manager is

Haley Reinhart Goes Rolling in the Deep

Matching efforts by James Durbin, Casey Abrams or even Lauren Alaina was a tall order for Haley Reinhart, who chose to sing Adele’s “Rolling the Deep.”

While choosing such a current hit is always a risk (especially a hit sung by, you know, Adele), Haley did her best to do it justice, vocally and emotionally.

Jennifer said there were moments where she did it better than Adele. We’re not going that far, because it was far from perfect. But she held her own.

Casey Abrams Does Maroon 5, Kisses Jennifer Lopez

Casey Abrams‘ rendition of “Harder to Breathe” by Maroon 5 was alright last night. He’s got a little funk to him, enough to do Adam Levine justice out there.

The vocals were mediocre at times, but give him credit for not holding back on the performance. He ended the song right in front of J. Lo – and kissed her.

Steven approves. “You did what I’ve been trying to do for two months!” he said.

Jennifer Lopez actually blushed, too. “I loved it,” she says. “The performance!”

Did you? Watch it below and vote on how it ranked among last night’s efforts:

Lauren Alaina: Born to Fly on American Idol

Lauren Alaina sometimes holds something back on stage. Not last night.

It’s true that, in covering Sara Evans’ hit “Born to Fly,” she stayed close to the original version. But it’s a great country song to stick close to the original of.

Will she spread her wings and truly fly to new heights this season on Idol? If this performance is any indication, she’s still scratching the surface of her talent:

Uprising: James Durbin Muses on American Idol

Last night on American Idol, James Durbin covered Muse, conjuring up images of Adam Lambert a few seasons ago. Durbin’s song choice: “Uprising.”

“I haven’t gotten to show that I can be contemporary,” he said, hoping to escape the metal/hard rock label. Suffice it to say, it worked and then some.

He’s sounded better in the past. But he probably hasn’t looked better.

The drums, the spinning cameras, the flashing lights and, of course, James’ natural feel for performing sent the crowd and judges into hysterics.

After praising his cover of the Matthew Bellamy-led band, Steven made a crack
