Robert F. Chew Dies; The Wire Star Was 52

Robert F. Chew, a Baltimore teacher and actor who portrayed one of TV’s most unforgettable characters as Proposition Joe on HBO’s The Wire, has died.

He passed away Thursday of apparent heart failure in his sleep at his home in Northeast Baltimore. Chew, who also appeared in Homicide, was 52.

Chew taught and mentored child and young adult actors at Baltimore’s Arena Players, a troupe he stayed with as his career blossomed through David Simon.

With Chew’s help, Simon, creator of The Wire, enlisted new talent in the form of young actors who played students in the Baltimore City

Apple Maps Deemed Unsafe, Discouraged By Australian Police

Police in Victoria, Australia have issued a warning to motorists regarding Apple Maps:

Don’t use it.

Officials spoke out after several travelers became stranded in the Murray-Sunset National Park trying to reach the city of Mildura using Apple’s utterly inaccurate directions.

Tests of the system by police confirm the mapping application lists Mildura in the middle of the Murray Sunset National Park, about 43 MILES from its actual location.

Baltimore Bus Driver BEATS DOWN "Disrespectful" Student [VIDEO]

WARNING: The following video is graphic and shocking in nature.

Shot aboard a Baltimore bus, it depicts a female driver positively pummeling a high school student she later says was being “disrespectful.”

Sources tell TMZ the driver hit first and the incident started because the student was playing her music very loudly.

The employee has reportedly worked for the city since 2003 and has been placed on a leave of absence following this outbreak. To which one can only respond: we sincerely hope so!

Chris Brown Concerts Advertised With Battered Rihanna Photos in Sweden

Posters featuring Rihanna’s battered face have been plastered around Stockholm, Sweden, protesting Chris Brown’s concert in the city November 19.

Point, Stockholm:

The posters feature the Rihanna photos taken by police after Brown’s 2009 arrest for felony domestic violence. It’s not known who is responsible for the “advertisements.”

Mark Abrahamian Dies of Heart Attack; Starship Guitarist was 46

Mark Abrahamian, the lead guitarist for the band Starship, suffered a heart attack following a concert in Nebraska Sunday night and passed away. He was 46.

According to The Associated Press, Abrahamian collapsed in the group’s dressing room following a performance in Norfolk. He was then taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Justin Bieber Paparazzi Foil Charged in Highway Chase

The moron who chased Justin Bieber around a Los Angeles freeway earlier this month might soon pay for his actions in court.

As previously reported, the artist was pulled over on July 6 for driving around 80 miles per hour, but witnesses confirmed he was doing his best to speed away from multiple members of the paparazzi who were after him for photographs.

Randy Blythe Case: Lamb of God Members Speak on Singer’s Manslaughter Charge

Police in Prague, Czech Republic, arrested Randy Blythe June 28 and charged the Lamb of God frontman with manslaughter. As of Friday, he was still behind bars.

The 41-year-old was involved in an incident with a fan at a 2010 concert in the city.

After a fan jumped onto the stage from the crowd, Blythe is accused of pushing him back into the audience, inflicting head injuries from which he later died.

A bootleg fireworks fail on some random guy’s street? You almost expect that on July 4. But the seventh-largest U.S. city screwing up? That’s more noteworthy!

The July 4 fireworks show in San Diego ended abruptly after a malfunction on three barges in the city’s coastal bay caused all the explosives to go off at the same time.
