The Westboro Baptist Church is drawing a link between Monday’s devastating Oklahoma tornado and NBA star Kevin Durant’s support for Jason Collins.
After Collins came out as gay in SI this spring, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Durant was one of many players to praise his courage and offer support.
According to the WBC, OKC is now paying the price.
Fred Phelps Jr., the son of Westboro Baptist Church minister Fred Phelps and the brother of Shirley Phelps-Roper, tweeted the following messages:
“OK Thunder’s Durant flips God by praising fag Collins. God smashes OK. You do the math.More >
Pope Benedict XVI, a shy and sensitive man who never seemed fully at home as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, has officially resigned the papacy.
His nearly eight-year reign as Pope ends today.
Benedict, 85, is the first Pope to resign in more than 600 years. In his wake lies a hierarchy facing scandal, intrigue and many unanswered questions.
Even as he met with cardinals on his final day as pope, pledging “unconditional reverence and obedience” to his successor, the discord was apparent.
Benedict urged the cardinals to “work like an orchestra” harmonizing for the goodMore >
Forget whether or not he can ever be a successful starting quarterback in the NFL.
Tim Tebow is now stirring up debate of a different kind.
The signal caller and devout Christian is scheduled to speak at First Baptist Dallas on April 28, a giant establishment in Texas whose pastor – Robert Jeffress – has received a lot of attention for anti-gay and anti-Semitic comments.
In October 2011, Jeffress said Islam and Mormonism are heretical religions “from the pit of hell,” and added that “you can’t be saved being a Jew.”
He also warned his 11,000-member Dallas congregation inMore >
Jay-Z dropped the zinger of the night on The-Dream at the Grammy Awards Sunday night, turning a quick acceptance speech into an LOL moment.
After Frank Ocean and Terius “The-Dream” Nash accepted the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“No Church in the Wild”), Jay-Z leaned in:Jay-Z Disses The-Dream at Grammy Awards
“I want to thank the swap meet for his hat,” the rapper said into the mic, mocking Nash’s thoroughly absurd headgear and drawing roars from the crowd.

He may not be able to complete a pass down field, but Tim Tebow knows how to not wear a shirt!
The New York Jets quarterback is featured in the latest Vogue, pushing a giant tire and doing what he does best: go topless.
Asked what sort of woman the famous virgin looks for in a partner, Tebow told the magazine:
“Obviously looks play a big part. Being attracted to someone plays a big part, but there’s also so much more than that for me. It’s about finding someone sweet and kind – and that has a servant’s heart.”
An interesting response. Would you want to be that someone? SoundMore >
But the star athlete’s sister made waves of a very different kind during an interview on a Maryland radio station this week, dropping racial epithet after racial epithet against the Chinese.
“China was chinked out,” she said on a show titled Closing Time. “Everything. Chinks. There was only chinks everywhere… You know how stereotypically they always want to take pictures, they take pictures of everything — chink chink … is that where it comes from?”More >
Ah, Hank Williams Jr.
Guy really needs to join fellow musicians Ted Nugent and Dave Mustaine on a Anti-Obama Conspiracy Tour 2012. The sound bites would be incredible.
At his concert Friday night at the Iowa State Fair – where Obama bought beers earlier in the week – Williams absolutely laid into the President on stage.
What did he say, exactly?
Following Williams’ song “We Don’t Apologize For America” a chant of “U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A” broke out amongst the crowd, according to the Des Moines Register.
Hank told the crowd he was their mouthpiece, and said, “We’ve got a Muslim president whoMore >
Hey, have you heard? Tom Cruise is single again.
In light of the actor’s divorce from Katie Holmes, and with many believing Scientology is to blame for the couple’s split, the National Enquirer quotes an expert on that religion who says Cruise will next marry somebody from within the church.
Specifically, Yolanda Pecoraro!
The actress is a “Scientology princess, perfect for Tom,” according to a tabloid source, who adds that Pecoraro has been taking Scientology courses since she was 13 years old.
Moreover, Yolanda admits she knows Cruise and is neither married nor engaged. Score!

Creflo Dollar, the Megachurch pastor and televangelist who has faced criticism over the years for his flamboyant lifestyle, was arrested today after allegedly injuring his 15-year old daughter in a fight.
Authorities from the Fayette County Sheriff’s department responded to a call of domestic violence at approximately 1 a.m., according to investigator Brent Rowan, who added that the religious man and his daughter were arguing over whether the latter could go to a party when Dollar “got physical” with her, resulting in “superficial injuries” on the teenager.
Ronald Poppo, 65, has been identified as the victim of “Miami Zombie” Rudy Eugene, with a new video detailing the gruesomeness of the attack.
Eugene, 31, was shot and killed by police after passersby saw him eating Poppo’s face in a story that has triggered talk of a zombie apocalypse.
Poppo, who reports say was homeless for nearly four decades before the grisly incident, is in serious condition, having somehow survived it.

President Barack Obama today became the first sitting president to announce support for same-sex marriage, making his position on the subject clear.
In a sit-down interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts, Obama completed what has been a long and often dubious “evolution” on the controversial topic.
“I’ve always been adamant that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly,” Obama told Roberts in an interview that will air Thursday.
Obama’s announcement, on the heels of North Carolina’s Amendment 1 ban on gay marriage in that state, was made after much soul-searching.

Celebrity Apprentice star and beauty queen Dayana Mendoza is firing back at co-star Lisa Lampanelli for a racial insult she allegedly used during a radio interview.
It all went down last month when Lampanelli appeared on Sirius XM, saying:
“I actually would love to see [Dayana] giving birth. She’s a sp*c! She’s going to do it f**king soon, anyway. She’ll be knocked up before the end of the week.”
Lampanelli is no stranger to using that slur in particular. Here’s a portion of a routine she did a few years back in which she says that and much worse:More >
“Mickey Mouse Club” connections only get you so far apparently.
Last night on The Voice, Christina Aguilera offered some less-than-glowing words for the falsetto-singing Tony Lucca, one of Adam Levine’s proteges.
After a rendition of “In Your Eyes,” Christina called him “one-dimensional,” said she thinks there are better voices on the show, and hopes The Voice doesn’t become about “celebrity sway” that keeps fan favorites like Tony in the competition.
Adam’s response: “Wow. That was honest.”

Madonna’s new album MDNA has sort of crashed and burned, posting nowhere close to the kind of sales figures one would expect from the Queen of Pop.
The record sold 359,000 copies when it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, but has since plummeted to 46,000 copies in its second week of release.
While many acts would be grateful to sell 400,000-plus units, it’s a letdown for one of the all-time greats, not to mention a record-setting dropoff.
Is she the Immaterial Girl?
Interestingly, in its first week of release, her manager Guy Oseary said of MDNA:

Eight months after announcing her engagement to Christian Evans, Ricki Lake is a married woman. She eloped with her fiance, according to reports!
“They had been planning on doing it this way and didn’t want a big spectacle,” a source explained to Us. “Ricki is so happy! She really found love again.”
Lake dropped a not-so-subtle hint on Twitter Tuesday with a fuzzy but stunning shot of herself, clad in a lacy wedding gown and holding a bouquet.
That could be construed as a wedding announcement of sorts:
