Chris Kyle Shot Dead; "American Sniper" Author Killed at Gun Range

Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL who wrote “American Sniper” about his career as a marksman in Iraq, was shot dead at a gun range in Texas Saturday.

Kyle, 38, and another man were found dead at the shooting range of Rough Creek Lodge on Saturday afternoon, the Texas Highway Patrol said.

The killer, identified as Eddie Ray Routh of Lancaster, Texas, was arrested after a brief pursuit, Trooper and spokesman Lonny Haschel confirmed.

The other victim was named as Chad Littlefield, aged 35.

Robert F. Chew Dies; The Wire Star Was 52

Robert F. Chew, a Baltimore teacher and actor who portrayed one of TV’s most unforgettable characters as Proposition Joe on HBO’s The Wire, has died.

He passed away Thursday of apparent heart failure in his sleep at his home in Northeast Baltimore. Chew, who also appeared in Homicide, was 52.

Chew taught and mentored child and young adult actors at Baltimore’s Arena Players, a troupe he stayed with as his career blossomed through David Simon.

Patti Page Dies; Musical Icon was 85

Patti Page, a legend in the world of music who recorded 50 albums throughout her career, died yesterday in California. She was 85 years old.

Page started singing way back in 1947, becoming the first successful artist for Mercury Records. She’ll likely be remembered most for the tracks “Tennessee Waltz” and “(How Much Is That) Doggie in the Window.”

The artist achieved 19 gold singles and 14 platinum singles over the course of an impressive career, while also starring on her own TV show.
