Rebuked author James Frey to return to Oprah Winfrey show
(HMG Celebrity News) – After he was famously chastised by Oprah Winfrey for making up details of his bestselling memoir, the New York Post reports author James Frey has agreed to appear as one of the final guests on Oprah’s syndicated talk show. Five years ago Winfrey carried Frey’s ‘A Million Little Pieces’ to the New York Times’ and Amazon bestseller lists after she selected his memoir, which detailed his drug addiction and the supposed suicide of an ex girlfriend, to her book club. But then the Smoking Gun detailed how the book had made up details, and she angrily confronted him on her show. Since then New York Post sources say Oprah reached out and apologized to Frey for the ambush a couple of years ago, and he appreciated it.
Frey apparently will now be given the full hour to talk up his new novel, The Final Testament of the Holy Bible, which hits stores tomorrow, as well as discuss “everything that’s happened over the last five years,” says a source. Set in contemporary New York the new book is not gonna go over well with many Christians as it portrays the central figure Ben Jones, as a modern day Jesus, who smokes marijuana, drinks alcohol, and makes love to men and women, even getting a prostitute pregnant. Winfrey’s last episode of her talk show airs May 25.
