Playboy’s Shannon twins move out and move up
[HMG] – Ex-Playboy stars, Karissa and Kristina Shannon found fame on the E Network’s ghastly ‘Girls Next Door’ show. But their link with Hugh Heffner got shaky when the pair brought other guys home.
“We were not allowed to have boys in the house. That was the number one rule,” says Karissa. “After a couple of weeks, Hef was getting upset about them, so he wanted us to move out.”
Heff chose the 20-year old pair to be his new girlfriends in 2008 when Kendra Wilkinson left. That got them their roles on the show, but on January 14th of this year they were asked to move out of the mansion. And the problem was boyfriends.
Karissa was dating ‘Blue Mountain State’ actor Sam Jones, while Kristina just broke up with Stephen Dorff, her co-star in their new movie, ‘Somewhere.’
The twins moved into a nearby condo, but literally being ‘next door’ didn’t work either so they moved off the property entirely. Karissa moved in with Sam, while Kristina went on dating Steven. But that fell apart.
“There was serious attraction. We dated for a month,” she recalls. “But we’re still friends. It wasn’t a serious thing. We weren’t fighting or anything.”
Their connection began after she and Steven shared a few scenes in Sofia Coppola’s new movie ‘Somewhere.’ This tells the story of an actor [Benicio Del Toro] who reviews his life while staying at L.A’s famous Chateau Marmont hotel.
Sofia had never heard of their show but was seeking twins for the film, and the Shannon’s appeared in her search.
“She just Googled twins,” Kristina explains. “And our pictures popped up.”
The three met, and Sofia immediately signed them. Kristina plays Dorf’s dancer/girlfriend, while Karissa plays her sister.
Now, of course, they both think they can act. And while still planning to take part in Heff’s next show, “Bunnies Next Door” the twins are both hoping to score other roles.
“Ever since we did the movie it’s become my new passion,” Kristina tells Popcorn. “Reality is so easy. The movie will be iconic.”
The movie opens just in time for the holidays. But if I were you, I’d make other plans…
