Mark Zuckerberg[HMG] – The social potential of Facebook has made it among the most popular sites on the internet. But that appeal may be diluted by a new film ‘The Social Network’ that paints its creator,  Mark Zuckerberg as a scheming sex maniac.

Recent updates to Facebook’s privacy settings have caused uproar among its 400+ million users, but their anger may turn to laughter when the new movie, ‘The Social Network,’ debuts. Written by ‘The West Wing’s Aaron Sorkin, critics who have seen a rough cut told the Times it makes Zuckerberg look like “a borderline-autistic conniver. ”

Set in a court room and told mostly in flashbacks the film begins on February 4, 2004 when  Zuckerberg, then a 19-year old student at Harvard, gets dumped by his girlfriend, Erica, who says that while he might think girls won’t like him because he’s a geek, she knows the truth;

“I want you to know that won’t be true. It’ll be because you’re an asshole,” she explains.

Drunk and depressed, Zuckerberg [played by 'Zombieland's Jesse Eisenberg,] returns to his Harvard dorm-room and immediately proves Erica’s point by writing code that enables him and his male Harvard friends to grade the female students against farm animals.

In thirty minutes the new network becomes so successful it implodes Harvard’s servers.

Obsessed with this masterpiece of misogyny, Mark then swaps Harvard for Silicon Valley, meets ‘Napster’ co-founder, Sean Parker [played by Justin Timberlake,]  and together they launch “Facebook 1.0” in September of 2006. Parker also feeds Mark’s alleged vast insecurities with a long string of ‘groupies’ while he runs the site.

Forbes Magazine says Facebook’s unbounded success has made Mark worth around $4-billion. But Parker really messed up – He sold Mark all his shares for $200-million and just walked away from their goldmine.

On Friday, Mark celebrated his 26th birthday locked in crisis meetings over the storm created by Facebook’s new rules. He’s said to be eager to prove himself as ‘a good guy,’ but the new film, produced by Kevin Spacey and due to bow in October will not help that plan at all.

If you’re on Facebook, what’s your view on all this?…
