Lady Gaga to play Amy Winehouse in film, sources say
Within days of the death of Amy Winehouse there were already rumors of plans for a film of her life. Now it seems the rumors may be gaining ground; Reports suggest Lady Gaga is now in talks to assume the role of the London-born singer in a major Hollywood film.
“Lady Gaga worshiped Amy and would love nothing more than to transform herself into her idol on the big screen,” a Hollywood insider tells reporters. “She’d be spot on performing Amy’s songs and has the right look and bolshy attitude.”
The name of the studio is not currently known but they are said to be eager to cash in on the global outpouring of grief and affection that emerged when the news broke on July 23.
And Lady Gaga is also enthused by the prospect;
“Gaga’s been itching to make the transition from music into movies and sees this as the ideal role to launch her film career,” added the source.
The 25-year old chanteuse has been inundated with film offers since completing her ‘Monster Ball’ tour, but she is now thought to be solely focused on the chance to bring Amy’s life to the screen;
“Gaga’s management had been discussing film ventures before Amy’s death, but there’s only ever been one role she wanted and that’s to play Amy.”
And this is confirmed by her own views a few days after Amy was lost;
“I am just so devastated and so sad. I really could not speak for 48 hours straight, I was in such shock,” she told reporters. “She was the most lovely and nice and kind woman.”
Should the rumors prove true we will advise you as more news arrives…
