Katie Holmes joins ‘Jack & Jill’, Adam Sandler goes drag
[HMG] – In a move that is sure to continue his unrivaled record of sleepwalking through films, Adam Sandler has now signed to appear with Katies Holmes in a movie that will mark his debut in drag.
The new film, ‘Jack and Jill’ tells the story of a happy family man [Sandler] whose fun life in California is upset when his sister, Jill (also Sandler), comes to stay for Thanksgiving – and refuses to leave.
Holmes will be playing Jack’s wife.
THR says Al Pacino is also booked to appear, and the whole sorry mess is due to be directed by Dennis Dugan, who also directed Adam in ‘Grown Ups’, ‘You Don’t Mess with the Zohan,’ and his biggest earner to date, ‘Big Daddy’ – way back in 1999.
In contrast to Adam’s clearly declining career, this role marks 31-year old Katie’s first studio film since ‘Batman Begins’ in 2005. She also made the low-budget crowd-pleaser “Mad Money” in 2008, and has several independent films to her name.
But her next big role is ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.’ Produced by Guillermo del Toro it opens next January, and if you’re a fan of Mrs. Cruise you don’t want to miss it.
To me, ‘Jack and Jill’ sounds like Mrs. Doubtfire with 1/10th of the talent, and a sad waste of both the time and the gifts of Holmes and Pacino. At this rate of decline I can see Adam on Celebrity Rehab or ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in three seasons or less.
