Kate Hudson announces engagement on Today Show
[HMG Celebrity News] – Most breakfast television can dull the senses but Matt Lauer is clearly immune – On this morning’s Today show he was the first reporter to notice Kate Hudson is engaged.
While discussing her new movie ‘Something Borrowed’ Matt noticed a giant, square-cut engagement ring on her hand. and Kate was happy to confess;
“I haven’t really announced it, I was waiting for someone to notice,” she explained. “It happened a week ago,” the 32-year old actress told Matt, recalling the proposal which occurred in New York as “very sweet and romantic.”
The man in question is ‘Muse’ singer and long-time boyfriend Matthew Bellamy, who is also the father of her upcoming baby;
“He’s a beautiful man and I’m very excited,” Kate told the host.
The pair met in Australia a few years ago but their connection did not become public until June of last year. But Kate made it clear she and Matt don’t have a wedding date yet.
“I don’t feel it necessary to get married,” she told reporters in January. “It isn’t the golden ticket, I just want to be happy.”
Should the pair get around to tying the knot it would be Kate’s second time – She married Black Crowes front-man Chris Robinson on December 31, 2000 in Colorado and they now share custody of a seven-year-old son, Ryder. Matthew has never been married.
