Justin Bieber fans vent after Esperanza Spalding Grammy win[HMG Celebrity News] – The Grammy Awards are known for their capacity to pick surprise winners, but when Jazz bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding won ‘Best New Artist,’ fans of Justin Bieber went on a social media rampage.

Within minutes of winning the 26-year old became the focus of online outrage from Bieber fans who were convinced their idol deserved the award.

“Bieber was robbed,” one fan tweeted. “He should have won best new artist! No-one even knows who this Spalding chick is.”

Another fan agreed; ”’Best New Artist’ should now be called ‘Artist You’ll Never Hear From Again,” wrote @sarajoallocco.

And Eugene Ramirez had some advice for the judges; “The Grammy judges better watch their backs! A bunch of tween girls are out to get you now!”

But the pain was clearly too great for just 140 characters so fans invaded Esperanza’s Wikipedia page and added ‘facts’ like her middle name was supposedly ‘Justin’ or ‘Quesadilla.’ They also made some scathing additions;

“She now has the 2011 Grammy for being the Best new Artist — Even though no-one has ever heard of her!” added one anonymous fan. “Justin Bieber deserved it. Go die in a hole!” was another entry.

Esperanza’s defense was handled by just one brave soul who wrote; “Ha-Ha, Justin Bieber, you’re just a little boy with no Grammy for Best New Artist.”

The page was quickly locked by Wikipedia’s admins and the entries have since been deleted.

As for the performers themselves, after completing an MTV interview Justin literally bumped into Esperanza and the reaction was telling – He congratulated her on the win and the two singers shook hands.

It’s a shame some of his fans couldn’t be so mature.

Justin’s been around for two years, so he’s hardly ‘New,’ but do you think he should have won? And what’s your opinion of the assault on Wikipedia. Let’s get your reaction…
