When she asked him what he was doing, Christian Felix, 18, said he missed the bus, so he was walking the nine miles home from his job at McDonald’s.

Simonick, 46, offered him a ride home, and became increasingly impressed. Felix didn’t drink or smoke, and had never been in trouble with the police.

She asked why he didn’t ride a bike home, and when he replied that he didn’t own a bike, and had never learned to ride one, she gave him

Knight had been in the house the longest and suffered brutal injuries at the hands of her captor, Ariel Castro, who is charged with rape and kidnapping.

But while the two other freed captives have returned home to cheering crowds and yards full of balloons, Knight did not enjoy a similar More >

Gun Violence Declining in U.S. While People Think It’s Rising, Studies Suggest

Gun violence has actually plunged in the U.S. since its peak in the middle of the 1990s, according to two new studies of government data.

At the same time, a majority of Americans believe it is on the rise.

Gun crime statistics are comprised of murders, assaults, robberies and other crimes, and the Pew Research Center found that they’re down overall.

In less than two decades, the gun murder rate has been nearly cut in half, their research suggested, while other gun crimes fell even more sharply.

This parallels a broader drop in violent crimes committed with or without guns,

Cinco de Mayo: Raise a Glass to May 5!

Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day, as is commonly believed.

It is, however, a special event for those in our southern neighboring nation.

It’s also an excuse to sample all of your favorite margarita recipes! Woo!

In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over the French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

In the U.S., it originated with Mexican-American communities in the West as a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the Civil War.

Today, the day is most commonly

Lil Wayne Dropped By Mountain Dew Over Emmett Till Controversy

Lil Wayne will no longer be representing Mountain Dew.

PepsiCo cut ties with its popular pitchman Friday over his controversial lyric mentioning 1950s civil rights martyr Emmett Till in the crudest of ways.

“Beat that pu–y up like Emmett Till,” the 30-year-old rapped on Future’s “Karate Chop” remix, which was later pulled due to the offensive reference.

Weezy recently apologized for (well, acknowledged) the controversy in a letter to Emmett Till‘s family, but that apparently did not go far enough.
