ben affleck poker[HMG] – As well known for his love of the game as for his quirky acting, Oscar winner, Ben Affleck was forced to withdraw from a Las Vegas charity poker match this week, due to a migraine.

Ben, 37, was among the contenders at the ‘Ante Up for Africa’ tournament which opened at Rio Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas on Monday. But he was forced to withdraw after being struck down by one of the disabling headaches caused by this ailment.

“This is the one poker event I go to each year, and I didn’t even get to play,” a sad Ben told Page Six.

But all was not lost – Supported by the event’s founder, Don Cheadle and Ben’s pal, Matt Damon, 36-year old Shannon Elizabeth, who played Nadia in 1999’s ‘American Pie’ scored second place, earning a cool $80,000 for charity with her card-playing skills.

The winner was professional poker player, Phil Gordon, who bagged the top prize of $129,086 – which he promptly donated to Refugees International and Project Enough, a charity that campaigns to stop crimes against humanity, which are still an almost daily occurrence in some parts of Africa.
